Minimum qualifications:

• 5 years of experience as a technical practitioner developing, delivering, or securing applications/systems.
• Experience in the Computer Science field.
• Experience in consulting and advising customers with cloud technologies.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience as a Software Developer, Architect, Technical Advocate, Consultant, Community/Product Manager or Consultant working with various platforms.
• Experience with blogging and writing technical articles for an existing follower base, and speaking at technology conferences.
• Experience contributing to an open source project.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across a global, matrixed organization, and manage multiple cross-functional stakeholders.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities in an ever-changing environment.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills.

The Developer Relations organization helps keep us connected to the communities that love technology as much as we do. Our focus is on supporting third party developers who build applications and businesses on Google’s platforms. Developer Advocates act as passionate advocates for Google technologies, and are vocal advocates for developer interests within Google. This is a position for engineers who love connecting with developers and speaking publicly about cutting-edge technologies on conference panels, at user groups, on blogs and with the press. You also communicate internally with Product Managers. Chrome, Android, App Engine, HTML5, as well as our core Google Workspace and Ads APIs, are just some of the platforms you promote and support. Your work fosters a community of developers working with Google technologies and helps to drive strategy around Developer Relations.

The Cloud Developer Relations team combines expertise from a variety of functions with a desire to help Google Cloud build products and solutions that are important to communities and solve problems in simple, scalable, and innovative ways.

As a Developer Advocate, you’ll work to raise awareness of Cloud technologies and methodologies within our technical communities through enablement and inspiration. You’ll drive strategy around Google Developer Relations efforts for specific communities and products, and use your practitioner knowledge to define product strategies and craft narratives around new products and technologies.

Responsibilities

• Participate in relevant technical communities as a practitioner to gain a deep understanding of that community’s needs, including input on design discussions, customer zero testing, launch, and post-launch updates.
• Advocate for community internally and help influence Google Cloud product strategy by working with Product Management, Engineering, PR, Marketing, Business Development, and other cross-functional teams.
• Understand and synthesize feedback in order to drive continuous improvement to Google Cloud Platform products and the overall platform experience.
• Work with Product and Engineering teams to define product strategies and craft narratives around new products and features.
• Build and cultivate an external ‘community ecosystem’ that amplify messages and extend reach.
