As a news anchor, you will work closely with reporters and will be responsible for gathering information, broadcasting newscasts throughout the day and interviewing guests. Ultimately, you should be able to follow current events and present news stories to audiences in an informative, interesting and unbiased way.Duties and Responsibilities:

• Researching on the local community, national, state and international current affairs.
• Meeting up the reporters, news directors and fellow news anchors to be briefed on the routine news.
• Collaborating with the news directors to pick the right stories that should be broadcasted daily considering the audience’s preferences.
• Organizing the breaking news in a way that it presents the most interesting aspects first.
• Writing, revising scripts and preparing them well to be delivered live.
• Interviewing guests and other members involved in particular stories.
• Introducing news correspondents reporting on scene and ask them relevant questions.
• Keeping abreast of news developments by studying papers, attending events etc.
• Staying in contact with politicians, social activists and other people which provide latest news updates.
• Interpreting and presenting news stories so that viewers or listeners can better understand them.
• Conducting live interviews with experts who can provide additional information or opinions.
• Gathering, verifying and analysing news data received from various sources.
• Organizing news materials from various sources and write news reports.
• Producing news shows, including coordinating reporting.
• Complying with the moral code of the journalistic profession.
• To perform all other necessary related works as per the instructions.

Skills and Competencies:

• Proven work experience as a news anchor or a similar role in the Media Department.
• Comfortable yet professional presence on camera and ability to improvise in a live on-camera setting.
• Ability to understand the news programs process.
• Ability to analyze and broadcast news coverage as and when required.
• Broad knowledge of local, national and international affairs (like political, economic, legislative etc.).
• Ability to maintain a strict level of confidence.
• Exceptional, active social media presence and familiarity with mobile technology.
• Pleasant, friendly disposition and strong interpersonal communication skills.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Journalism, Communications or relevant field.
• Previous office experience may be requested but this can also be entry level position.

• Internet skills including use of e-mails, group messaging and data collection.
