Job Description
Johnson and Johnson is hiring for a Communications and Public Affairs (India) leader for its Consumer Health business based in Mumbai The role is responsible for the development of the external communications platform and public affairs strategies as well as internal communications for its Consumer Health business in India.
Reporting to the Head of Communication & Public Affairs, India Enterprise, the position will be responsible for all communication aspects of the Consumer Health business in India. The role demands fluency in high impact press, influencer and social communications, media relations, crisis/issues management.
As a member of the Consumer Health India leadership team, the ‘Head of Communications and Public Affairs is responsible for the company’s and brands reputation, implementing its Social Impact and Sustainability agenda, partnering with media and external stakeholders, and ensuring high employee engagement through inspiring internal and executive communications. Engaging the community, media, health care professionals, industry, government stakeholders and our employees is critical to this effort.
Key Responsibilities
Support and drive the strategic priorities of the Johnson & Johnson Consumer Health Business in India through inspiring communications and advocacy, enabling the organisation to solidify its leadership position in driving innovative and science-based solutions for consumers.
Lead the development of strategies and programs for Communications and Public Affairs objectives, including reputation management, policy advocacy, environmental sustainability, and social impact.
Interface with a wide range of external as well as internal stakeholders, including leadership team and functional teams across the company.
Ensure all external and internal communications are fully aligned with the established global and regional strategic positioning for the business and corporation.
Independently handle media relations, managing issues/crisis, support leadership communications.
Responsible for engaging with media- print, electronic, online and regional media across the country, and also engage with other relevant external stakeholders to build and protect the reputation of the company.
Build valued and respected relationships with key media and influencers – understand reporter and outlet needs, key topics, identify market trends and develop compelling local message platforms for external influencers
Provide strategic communications support in collaboration with internal stakeholders to facilitate media engagements and corporate positioning. Equip and coach senior executives to be able to speak to media and other stakeholders.
Align global, regional and market teams to promote key transformational new product launches, leveraging global materials to tell local stories and produce locally relevant content to amplify for the greatest impact
Partner with marketing on building reputation and engagement for our brands
Develop a cadence of consumer stories that elevate our storytelling, can be used within communication programs and showcase local heroes
Research and define best practice in social outreach. Define key platforms, employee amplification and policy guidance and a content calendar
Identify, secure and manage agency resources well to ensure maximum value
Proactively address issues and crisis management with best in class processes and proactive planning and responses. Organization-wide capability building of managers and preparedness to handle issues – Issues Management Training
Develop an employee engagement strategy that informs a cadence of impactful employee programs and communications
Develop a framework to enable functions and teams to contribute, publish and participate in internal communications.
Support the over Johnson & Johnson Enterprise reputation in India across common themes. Work across the business teams to present the interests of the entire Johnson & Johnson Company with one voice.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Education: A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in required. An advanced degree is Communications, Marketing, Business, Journalism or other related area is preferred.
Experience and Skills:
12+ years of communication experience is required.
Extensive experience of the consumer goods or healthcare industry is preferred, particularly in brand communications.
Exceptional writing ability and proven expertise in executive communication, including speechwriting and presentation development is required.
Familiarity with metrics-based communications planning, media strategy and stakeholder management
Strong knowledge of how traditional media and social media work, and excel at developing productive relationships with key stakeholders.
Must have excellent critical reasoning skills; creativity in developing options and solutions; superior ability to deal with complex, ambiguous and contradictory situations and an interest and understanding of new media/communications approaches.
Have experience in cohesive brand storytelling and narrative building to an external audience.
Direct experience in leading impactful, multi country programs to media and key stakeholders.
Proven track record of story development, successful placement and be considered a subject matter
expert in communications to be able to both produce and direct world class programs.
The candidate should have extensive and holistic crisis/issues management experience.
Be able to proactively anticipate issues and opportunities and have extensive experience in training executives in preparation for high impact presentations, interviews and issues.
Proven ability to work in a matrixed, global organisation.
