Our job in LaSalle’s Digital Transformation Team is to be brave and accelerate the impact of digital transformation by partnering closely with our business units. We prototype ideas, test them in real business scenarios and quickly adapt the solution. Combining data science, human-centered design, and the latest rapid development techniques–such as agile, microservices, and DevOps–help deliver breakthrough products, experiences, and businesses.
We are building a LaSalle’s Digital Experience (LDX) Platform on Azure for our Digital Transformation. The LDX platform will be powered by multiple COTS/Custom Build applications and unified data and content platforms using tools like Talend, Snowflake, Looker, Liferay, Data Bricks, and others. We have set up a Global Digital Engineering Hub in Bangalore to support LaSalle’s Digital Transformation Program’s global implementation.
The position reports to the LaSalle CIO but will be working too closely with Business and Technology leaders across Europe, the Americas, Asia Pacific, and Digital Delivery Centre in India. This role will be based in London and involve travel between our offices across Chicago, London, Paris, Munich, Luxembourg, Singapore, Tokyo, and Digital Delivery Centre in Bangalore. This close collaboration with function leads ensures a best in class service delivery and increased efficiency and productivity through Digital Transformation and Agility. The objective is to be ‘best in class’ amongst our peers.
Responsibilities
Oversee the global Liferay platform design, architecture, implementation activities for the digital transformation scope of work
Lead a team of 20+ Liferay engineers across LaSalle offshore and onshore locations
Ensure the business provided inputs on user experience is implemented in the Liferay platform
Ensure that the Liferay designs & architecture follow industry best practices and are economically sound. Help the Liferay development teams translate the designs & architecture into quality deliverables
Maintain in-depth knowledge of the Liferay Platform technologies and architectures. Develop and maintain current and planned state architectural blueprints in Liferay
Maintain consistencies in both Liferay technical and application designs to fulfill the architectural requirements related to applications, middleware, virtual servers, and operating systems. Develop and communicate guiding principles, governance structures associated with the selection of Liferay components.
Manage the technical project delivery; perform code reviews, and collaborate with vendors to resolve technical challenges
Develop detailed design, define activities and scope of work for implementing use cases in Liferay Platform
Work with the cloud architecture team to ensure Liferay Platform is implemented correctly in the Cloud platform. Drive continuous integration/deployment – CI/CD, High availability infrastructure, Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Planning Service, etc.
Develop architectural solutions for databases, user interfaces, and web services for Cloud solutions to create a more seamless end-user experience
Assessing “as-is” IT service, application, and technology estate in defining the target (to-be) state IT service, application, and technology landscape (architecture), producing business case/ roadmap in Liferay

Experience & Education
At least 15+ years of technology delivery experience; last six years in implementing Liferay Platform (DXP experience preferred)
Experience in developing Liferay based portlets, web services, hooks, extensions, configuration/customization of Liferay Portal and with Liferay MVC
Experience in leading offshore Liferay engineers
Experience working in Java & J2EE Technologies (Servlets, JSP) and Web technologies (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript)
Experience in Integrating Liferay with 3rd party applications
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to identify, translate and present to a range of audiences, acting as a translator between parties (Business Stakeholders and Digital Delivery Team)
A proven ability to multi-task and a ‘client-service’ mentality with good problem-solving skills and the ability to influence
Superb written and verbal skills, including the ability to communicate between technical and non-technical contributors and communicate between the project team and senior leadership
Excellent project management skills disciplined and an ability to prioritize, strong organizational skills, commercial.
Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering / Science / Commerce discipline. Advanced degree preferred.
Desired Technical Skills & Competencies
Knowledge in Application Architecture, Application Security covering business process flows, data flows, data models
Knowledge preferred in the following technical subjects such as Docker, Kubernetes, Cloud Services (AWS, Azure, GCP), Jenkins, Maven, NPN, Kafka, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Angular 2, Node.JS, Microservices, Java, .NET, etc.
Experience with DevOps and Cloud development tools such as JIRA, Bitbucket, GIT, Confluence and Visual Studio, Eclipse. Strong understanding and knowledge of Web services, SOA (Service Oriented Architecture), and EAI (Enterprise Application Integration)
Working knowledge of the following programming languages: Java, JSON, PHP, React JS, Python, PowerShell, Azure CLI, etc. Cloud configuration management/automation tools: Ansible, Ansible Tower, Ansible Playbooks, Playbook Workflows, YAML, Puppet, etc.
Energy, drive, and passion for working and operating in a digital world. Ability to operate in a start-up mentality and unstructured environment
Superb written and verbal skills, including the ability to communicate between technical and non-technical contributors and between the project team and senior leadership
