Senior UI API Engineering Manager

• Apply your engineering expertise using the latest API technologies as a UI Engineer at the JLL Technologies Global Centre of Expertise in Bangalore, India.
• The JLL Technologies Product Engineering team aims to bring successful technology-based products to market in a high-growth environment. The team’s mission is focused on accelerating technology adoption in commercial real estate by bringing creative, innovative and technical solutions to solve large, complex problems for our clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and consume GraphQL API services for a configurable, multi-tenant Cloud Native Analytics application.
• Communicate with NoSQL databases and REST API endpoints to process application requests.
• Participate in event-driven, real-time data pipelines.
• Deliver customizable, real-time notifications to web and mobile devices.
• Secure applications using multiple authentication tools and techniques.
• Work with the Product Manager to convert customer stories into API services.
• Build high-quality services by automating Unit and Integration Tests, integrating with code quality and static analysis tools, and measuring engineering success metrics.
• Execute experiments by running A/B tests and measuring design outcomes.
• Build and deploy applications using automated CI/CD pipelines.
• Monitor and optimize the performance of application services.
• Plan and participate in Sprint activities such as Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement and Product Roadmap discussions.
• Estimate customer stories and technical tasks in the Product Backlog.
• Collaborate with other API engineers to follow best practices, adopt code guidelines and perform code reviews.
• Support the application by resolving customer issues.
• Contribute to a culture committed to the delivery of outstanding customer service.

Experience & Education

• Experience with building Cloud Native Analytics application services.
• Experience interacting with visualization Server APIs for tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
• Experience building modern Node.js applications using TypeScript.
• Experience with building GraphQL schemas and resolvers using servers such as Apollo.
• Experience with NoSQL databases such as Azure Cosmos DB and MongoDB.
• Experience with event-driven architectures and technologies such as Apache Kafka and Azure Event Hubs.
• Experience securing applications using authentication standards such as OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JSON Web Tokens, and SAML 2.0.
• Experience building real-time notification applications that allow customers to subscribe to events.
• Experience with creating and publishing npm packages.
• Experience with developing Unit Tests using automation frameworks such as Jest.
• Experience with the automated build and deployment of Node.js web applications using CI/CD tools.
• Experience with one or more public clouds such as Azure, AWS and GCP.
• Experience with Cloud Native, Microservices and serverless architectural patterns and technologies.
• Reliable, self-motivated and self-disciplined individual capable of planning and executing multiple projects simultaneously within a fast-paced environment.
• Requires excellent collaboration, presentation and communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering or a Computer Science discipline. Advanced degree preferred.
• 5+ years of developing Node.js application services with at least two years of GraphQL experience.
• Capable of rapid self-learning of new software applications and programming languages.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation.
• Excellent technical, analytical, time management, and organizational skills. Agile Scrum skills desired.

Technical Skills & Competencies

• Expertise in developing API services using modern Node.js, TypeScript and GraphQL.
• Experience with serverless technologies such as Azure Functions.
• Experience with NoSQL databases such as Azure Cosmos DB and MongoDB.
• Experience with consuming REST API endpoints, especially visualization Server APIs for Tableau and Power BI.
• Experience with Cloud resources such as Azure Event Hubs and Azure Cache for Redis.
• Experience securing applications using authentication standards such as OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JSON Web Token, and SAML.
• Experience with one or more public clouds such as Azure, AWS and GCP.
• Experience with application service monitoring and tracing using tools such as Azure Monitor, Fluentd, Prometheus, Grafana, and Apollo Data Graph Platform.
• Experience with containerizing Microservices using Docker and deploying Helm Charts to Kubernetes clusters.
• Experience with DevOps tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Travis CI, and Jenkins.
