About the job: 

KENT is seeking an enthusiastic and driven Data Science Engineer to join our Global Innovation and Digital Engineering team in Kent. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating insights and intelligence for our digital clients, with a focus on understanding the needs of the oil & gas industry. This entry-level position is open to recent graduates who are eager to apply their data science skills to real-world problems and have a strong interest in the energy sector. 

Your responsibilities:  

• Collaborate with the Global Innovation and Digital Engineering team to understand client requirements and the specific challenges faced by the oil & gas industry.
• Develop and implement innovative data-driven solutions and models to address the needs of digital clients in the energy sector.
• Analyze and interpret large and complex datasets to derive actionable insights and intelligence for clients.
• Conduct thorough data quality checks and ensure the accuracy and reliability of insights provided to clients.
• Communicate the results of data analysis to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
• Continuously learn and stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in data science and the energy sector.
• Assist in the development of data pipelines, data integration, and the deployment of data-driven solutions.
• Contribute to the documentation of data science projects, including project plans, progress reports, and final deliverables.
• Support the team in conducting research and development activities to drive innovation and improvements in data-driven solutions for the oil & gas industry
• Ensure all digital projects adhere to industry regulations, best practices, and company policies.
• Support the internal development of innovation solutions to sharing use cases, contribute in the success of KENT global innovation and Digital Team

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience: 

Qualification/ Certification: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Communication:

• Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.

Core Competencies:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen interest in the energy sector.
• Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, R, or Java.
• Familiarity with data science libraries and tools such as NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or similar.
• Knowledge of data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
• Understanding of machine learning and statistical modeling techniques.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information to a non-technical audience.
• Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment and manage multiple tasks and priorities.
• Self-motivated, with a strong desire to learn and grow in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or similar.
• Internship or project experience in data science, analytics, or a related field.
