The Role
As a System Administrator at Kyndryl, you’ll solve complex problems and identify potential future issues across the spectrum of platforms and services. You’ll be at the forefront of new technology and modernization, working with some of our biggest clients – which means some of the biggest in the world.

Who You Are
Experience: 8+ years of extensive experience in Kubernetes and DevOps with a focus on data lake technologies and tools
Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Kubernetes DevOps Expert with proficiency in managing Kubernetes environments and a strong background in data lake technologies such as Cloudera, HDFS, Hive, Yarn, Spark, ZooKeeper, Hudi, Trino, Ranger, RocksDB, Airflow, NiFi, and Tableau. As a Kubernetes DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable and reliable data lake infrastructure and pipelines. You will collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to ensure efficient data processing, analysis, and visualization using Kubernetes and associated tools.
Responsibilities:
Kubernetes Infrastructure Design and Management: Design, architect, and manage Kubernetes clusters to support data lake infrastructure and associated services. Ensure scalability, high availability, and security of the Kubernetes environment.
Data Lake Platform Implementation and Administration: Deploy and administer the Cloudera-based data lake platform, including HDFS, Hive, Yarn, Spark, ZooKeeper, Hudi, Trino, Ranger, RocksDB, Airflow, NiFi, and Tableau. Configure and optimize these components for efficient data storage, processing, and analytics.
Data Pipelines and ETL: Design, implement, and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes using tools like Airflow and NiFi. Extract, transform, and load data from various sources into the data lake, ensuring data quality and integrity.
Performance Optimization: Optimize data lake infrastructure, including resource allocation, scaling, and networking configurations, to maximize performance and efficiency. Fine-tune Spark jobs and cluster configurations for optimal data processing.
Data Security and Governance: Implement security controls and policies for data lake environments, ensuring data protection, access control, and compliance. Configure and manage authentication, authorization, and auditing mechanisms using tools like Ranger.
Monitoring and Observability: Set up monitoring and observability solutions for the data lake environment, including metrics, logging, and alerting. Use tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or similar to monitor cluster health, resource utilization, and performance.
Troubleshooting and Support: Investigate and resolve issues related to the data lake infrastructure, data pipelines, and associated tools. Provide technical support to data engineers, data scientists, and other stakeholders.
Collaboration and Documentation: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements, provide technical guidance, and ensure successful data lake deployments. Create and maintain documentation, including architecture diagrams, deployment procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
Requirements:
Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience working with Kubernetes and DevOps in data lake environments.
Strong understanding of Kubernetes architecture, components, and best practices.
Proficiency in managing Cloudera-based data lake platforms, including HDFS, Hive, Yarn, Spark, ZooKeeper, Hudi, Trino, Ranger, RocksDB, Airflow, NiFi, and Tableau.
Experience designing and implementing data pipelines and ETL processes using tools like Airflow and NiFi.
Solid knowledge of performance optimization techniques for data lake infrastructure and Spark-based data processing.
Familiarity with data security and governance practices, including access control and compliance.
Experience setting up monitoring and observability solutions for data lake environments.
Proficient in troubleshooting and debugging issues related to data lake infrastructure and associated tools.
Excellent scripting and automation skills (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell).
Strong collaboration and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Relevant certifications in Kubernetes, Cloudera, Spark, or related technologies.
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and their Kubernetes services.
Knowledge of additional DevOps tools and practices (e.g., Git, Jenkins, Ansible).
