The Role
As a System Administrator at Kyndryl, you’ll solve complex problems and identify potential future issues across the spectrum of platforms and services. You’ll be at the forefront of new technology and modernization, working with some of our biggest clients – which means some of the biggest in the world.
There’s never a typical day as a System Administrator at Kyndryl, because no two projects are alike. You’ll be managing systems data for clients and providing day-to-day solutions and security compliance. You’ll oversee a queue of assignments and work directly with technicians, prioritizing tickets to deliver the best solutions to our clients.

Who You Are
Experience: 8+ years of extensive experience in Kubernetes, Rancher, and Flux
Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Kubernetes DevOps Expert with proficiency in managing Kubernetes clusters, Rancher, and Flux. As a Kubernetes DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining Kubernetes-based infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and GitOps workflows. You will collaborate with software development, operations, and other teams to ensure efficient and reliable application delivery and operations using Kubernetes, Rancher, and Flux.
Responsibilities:
Kubernetes Cluster Management: Design, architect, and manage Kubernetes clusters using best practices. Set up and configure cluster components such as etcd, API servers, schedulers, and controllers. Ensure scalability, high availability, and security of the Kubernetes clusters.
Rancher Implementation and Management: Deploy and manage Rancher, a Kubernetes management platform, to simplify cluster management, monitoring, and administration. Configure Rancher for multiple clusters and define cluster-level settings, access control, and monitoring.
GitOps Workflows with Flux: Implement GitOps workflows using Flux, a Kubernetes-native continuous delivery tool. Set up automated deployments, synchronization of cluster state with Git repositories, and version-controlled configuration management.
Containerization and Deployment: Containerize applications using Docker and deploy them to Kubernetes clusters managed by Rancher. Define and manage deployment configurations, including deployment strategies, rollback mechanisms, and versioning.
Continuous Integration and Deployment (CI/CD): Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or similar. Automate build, test, and deployment processes for Kubernetes-based applications using Rancher and Flux.
Infrastructure as Code: Use tools like Terraform, Ansible, or similar to define and manage infrastructure as code for Kubernetes environments managed by Rancher. Implement infrastructure automation and version-controlled configuration management.
Monitoring and Observability: Implement monitoring and observability solutions for Kubernetes clusters and applications using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or similar. Set up alerting, logging, and metrics collection to ensure system health and performance.
Security and Compliance: Implement security best practices for Kubernetes environments, including RBAC (Role-Based Access Control), network policies, secrets management, and container security measures. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Troubleshooting and Support: Investigate and resolve issues related to Kubernetes infrastructure, Rancher, Flux, deployments, networking, and performance. Provide technical support and guidance to development and operations teams.
Collaboration and Documentation: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand application requirements, provide technical guidance, and ensure successful deployments. Create and maintain documentation, including infrastructure diagrams, deployment procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
Requirements:
Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience working with Kubernetes, Rancher, and Flux in a DevOps role.
Strong understanding of Kubernetes architecture, components, and best practices.
Proficiency in Rancher for cluster management, monitoring, and administration.
Experience implementing GitOps workflows with Flux or similar tools.
Solid knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker.
Experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines for Kubernetes-based applications.
Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform, Ansible, or similar.
Experience with monitoring and observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or similar.
Strong understanding of security principles and implementation in Kubernetes.
Proficient in troubleshooting and debugging Kubernetes-related issues.
Excellent scripting and automation skills (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell).
Strong collaboration and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Relevant certifications like Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Rancher Certified Operator.
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and their Kubernetes services.
Knowledge of additional DevOps tools and practices (e.g., Git, Jenkins, Ansible).
