Organisation Overview
UPG Platform Technology – Tools development is a software development group delivering to the Thomson Reuters financial business unit the applications required to support its global operations processes.
The group is formed of 3 Scrum teams responsible of delivering web applications that integrate with the organization’s tools and processes to form a complete solution for the business.
The operations processes themselves are concerned with making ready Thomson Reuters infrastructure within its data centres, with fulfilling customer orders for products and services and then with assuring those products and services during their use.
Responsibilities
• Develop, execute, and debug automated tests for our web applications
• Build tools that help developers be more productive, write better code and test it themselves
• Take ownership of the automated testing framework
• Research and investigate new automation technologies
• Manual testing when automation is not implemented
• Keep the pace of automation in line with development teams to avoid more manual testing
• Identifying and resolving anomalies during test on various software and system-level platforms
• Participating in technical reviews of software products
• Working with software development peers, domain experts, and product owner
• Proving on-call diagnostic/troubleshooting support for features developed
• Build tools that help developers be more productive, write better code and test it themselves
• Help to determine if user stories and their acceptance criteria are well defined and if they satisfy customer requirements
Key Skills
• Strong knowledge on Selenium Web driver UI Automation
• Strong knowledge on Rest-assured/Postman for API testing
• Minimum 5+ years of Java programming experience
• Exposure to Agile development methodology and approach
• Understand RESTful APIs and comfortable testing them
• Knowledge on Docker and Kubernetes is an added advantage
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience with SQL relational databases
• Excellent interpersonal skills for peer-to-peer and peer-to-leadership communication
• Experience in handling change in priorities, scope and technologies
• Ability to work with broad requirements and ask the right questions to clarify
• Self-motivated to explore better QA automation tools to benefit team and simplify future testing approach.
• Availability and capability to provide on-call diagnostic/troubleshooting support for features developed
• Strong communication and documentation skills
• Experience working in support environment as a team member or a lead to resolve production issues
• Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent critical thinking and problem solving capability
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Education and Previous Experience
• BA/BSc/BEng degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineer, IT or any related fields
• 5+ years relevant experience in developing test automation frameworks and performing in depth Quality Assurance for critical Production systems
