My name is Peeyush Jain, Regional Head – Accounting and Reporting for Svitzer AMEA Region and I am looking for a new Associate Finance Controller for our India entities to join the Svitzer family based in Mumbai, India.

You will report directly to me and become part of the Svitzer Regional Accounting & Reporting Team and your peers and close co-workers are Finance colleagues in our operations covering the AMEA Region.
This role is located in Mumbai, India. We work flexibly, not because there is a policy telling us to, but because it just makes good business and work/life sense and creates an engaging work environment.
General Area of Responsibility:
Svitzer Middle East Limited (hereinafter referred to as ”SME”)
- Timely completion of Statutory Audit and other Statutory compliances.
- Act as primary contact for Auditors of the offshore entity, thereby taking full responsibility of timely completion of the audits. To make sure the audits have no adverse observations.
- Ensure tax compliance including current and old fililngs as required. Provide necessary backup, supporting to regional team, Local Tax office, etc. to enable compliance with group procedures/local tax authorities
- Perform period-end closing activities – accruals, payroll journal, prepayment review, depreciation, capitalisation, etc. in compliance with company accounting policies and the application of IFRS to make sure the reporting for entity is completed within specified deadlines.
- Preparation of monthly Financials Reporting and closing of books for entities. Perform balance sheet reconciliations, make a control check and provide commentaries. Prepare monthly analysis on P&L accounts and submit to Finance Business Partner.
- Management Reporting in OneStream and providing deviation analysis giving storyline behind the numbers. Coordinates accounting matters with Financial controllers and Finance business partners.
- Undertake ad-hoc reporting and analysis requested by management.
- Review payment requests mainly for foreign vendors, crew & salary payouts on timely basis.
- Monitor the PTP cycle periodically to identify the areas of improvement and achieve efficiency in processing & settlement. Monitor and review end to end accounting of all transactions with support from the shared service team.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements to streamline accounting tasks further, increase efficiency and shorten the month-end close calendar.
- Prepare rolling forecast and budget process as per communicated guidelines supported with detailed underlying calculations for the profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow.
- Perform Svitzer Key Internal Controls and file control evidence as per minimum control requirements and frequency, making sure that all controls are always in effective state.
- Comply with all group/regional requirements, SOP’s.
- Expense review of ELT and and other LT members of Regional office.
Expected Education / Competencies
- University degree in Finance & Accounting with minimum 8 years experience in Financial Reporting & Control.
- Expert MS Excel user for developing reconciliations and review / analysis of financial information.
- Strong financial acumen with knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Governance, Risk & Control frameworks.
- Prior experience in internal or external audit.
- Attention to details. High sense of urgency.
- Hands-on prior experience in accounting using Navision or MS Dynamics and reporting of financials
into OneStream.
- Prior industry experience in towage and transportation is preferred but not mandatory.
- Prior experience in crewing is preferred but not mandatory.
- Articulate in written and spoken English. Excellent communicator who can structure information and communicate a clear message to all relevant stakeholders.
- Experience of more than 8 years in financial accounting preferably up to finalization.
