Position Summary:

The Marine Automation Trainer will be responsible for providing high-quality training to students in the field of marine automation systems, ensuring they acquire the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain automation systems on ships. The role involves delivering structured lessons, guiding practical sessions, and preparing students for certification exams or careers in the maritime industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Training Delivery:

• Develop and deliver training sessions on marine automation systems, including topics such as PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers), SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), instrumentation, control systems, and electrical systems used in marine environments.
• Teach theoretical concepts as well as practical applications in marine automation.
• Use industry-standard simulators, equipment, and real-world case studies to enhance learning experiences.

Curriculum Development:

• Collaborate with the curriculum development team to design and update training programs and materials that align with industry standards and technological advancements.
• Ensure course materials are accurate, up-to-date, and relevant to the current maritime industry needs.

Practical Training:

• Supervise hands-on practical sessions, allowing students to interact with marine automation equipment and systems.
• Ensure safe and effective use of training equipment, maintaining high standards of safety and operational procedures.

Student Evaluation and Assessment:

• Evaluate students’ progress through quizzes, assignments, projects, and practical exams.
• Provide constructive feedback to students on their performance and guide them in improving their skills.
• Monitor student attendance, engagement, and progression throughout the course.

Industry Collaboration:

• Keep abreast of the latest trends, technologies, and regulatory changes in marine automation.
• Maintain relationships with maritime companies and industry professionals to ensure that training programs meet the needs of the sector.
• Facilitate guest lectures, workshops, or industry visits where applicable.

Administrative Tasks:

• Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and certifications.
• Assist in the preparation of training reports, certifications, and other documentation as required.
• Participate in faculty meetings, training reviews, and other institutional activities.

Continuous Professional Development:

• Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with advancements in marine automation technologies and teaching methodologies.
• Attend relevant workshops, seminars, and conferences to enhance expertise.

Qualifications:

Educational Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
• Additional certifications in marine automation systems, control systems, or relevant technology (e.g., PLC certification, SCADA training) are highly desirable.

Experience:

• Minimum of 1years of experience in the marine automation or related industry, with hands-on experience in automation systems, control systems, and instrumentation prefered.
• Experience in teaching or training roles is a plus, particularly in a technical or engineering environment.

Skills:

• In-depth knowledge of marine automation systems, PLCs, SCADA, and related technologies.
• Strong teaching and presentation skills.
• Ability to break down complex technical concepts and present them in an understandable manner.
• Hands-on experience with simulators, training rigs, and equipment used in marine automation.
• Familiarity with maritime safety standards and regulations.
