QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree
• 10-15 years experience on external relations in India including day-to-day handling of media-relations and managing reputation risk
• Experience in a multinational or professional services company strongly preferred
• Good understanding of communications channels including broadcast, print and social media
• Experience of working with large, complex organizations and a proven ability to balance the needs of different stakeholders
• A team-builder and collaborator
• Good writer/editor
• Track record of working as part of a team in building/orchestrating successful, creative, pro-active external relations programs
• Ability to rapidly absorb a wide range of complex business and policy issues; strong interest in knowledge development and dissemination
• Ability to create a solid internal and external network to ensure successful execution of events and other activities
• Exceptional organizational, project management and interpersonal and communication skills

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
You will be based in our Mumbai or Gurgaon office and work closely with McKinsey’s India communications team particularly the director of communications for India. You will also work with the director of communications for Asia and partners and practice leaders in the India office. You will collaborate regularly with external relations colleagues in various industry and functional practices throughout the firm.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
You will position the firm and its work externally in a positive and accurate light by liaising with the media, preparing positioning statements and other requisite materials.
In this role, you will drive dissemination of the firm’s latest research and perspectives to targeted audiences via relevant channels and expand the depth and breadth of the firm’s network of relationships with external stakeholders. You will enhance office and practice publishing and support the development of India content for McKinsey.com.
You will build McKinsey’s reputation by sourcing high-level public speaking and publishing opportunities. You will be responsible for building reputation through media relations, public relations (including events and conferences) and public affairs activities. You will work on storyboarding and help produce videos. You will provide publication-ready writing and editing support for external communications that will include event invitations, digital communications, talking points, internal memos, presentation materials and digital and/or social media posts.
You will provide firm members with advice on external relations best practices. You will also direct firm members to existing guidelines and policies particularly those around professional standards, risk and external communications.
