The Linux (SUSE/ RHEL)/Solaris Administrator – Server Operations role will provide maintenance and support of all systems. This will include troubleshooting, performance monitoring, tuning and security. The Administrator – Server Operations will keep management, other team members, and customers aware of obstacles and status of changes in timely manner and uses proper judgment to determine when such communication is necessary. This person will also provide technical support to Server and Business
Participate and own the CIRP, Weekend maintenance, patching & upgrade activities, On-Call. Collaborate with other infrastructure & application team.
This includes staying on top of the latest technologies such as Ansible, Salt, Kubernet, Python etc., and understanding such where they can fit into Medline’s infrastructure.
Application Teams while maintaining a professional demeanor at all times. They are also consistently able to interact professionally and work productively with all levels of Medline employees.

Required Essential Skills:

o Actual hands on experience in administration and troubleshooting HP Serves (including Hardware)

Hands-on experience and understanding of hardware (Intel & SPRAC) configuration and troubleshooting.

Ability to resolve problems such as file system capacity, consistency and integrity of file systems, understand and take action on hardware related problems such as CPU, RAM, and disk failure etc.

Experience installing, administering, and troubleshooting SUSE / RHEL Linux & Solaris operating system products in an enterprise environment a plus

Experience with Bash /Python/YAMAL sc ripts

o Experience with SUSE Manager and/or Red Hat
o Knowledge of the Solaris 9,10 and 11 operating systems, configuration implementation integration including ZFS file system configuration support, Zone and container configuration
o Super Cluster system, SUSE/ Red HAT Cluster, Veritas Cluster including ZFS appliance and InfiniBand Switch.

Excellent troubleshooting and critical thinking skills

o Consistently demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities:

• Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.

• Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks.
• Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources.
• Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted IT Teams.
• Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.
• Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
• Experienced with Red Hat/ SUSE Linux & Solaris operating systems server builds, patching VMs in Virtual (VMware) and Physical Server Environment.
• Update AutoYast, Kickstart & Jumpstart installation procedures as new requirements arise.
• Write Bash /Python/YAMAL scripts to automate needs such as monitoring server resources.
• Create and maintain Systems Administration Procedures & Processes documents.
• Contribute to and maintain system standards.
• SUDO, LDAP and other account management experience desired.

Work Experience

• 4 to 8 years of experience administering and troubleshooting in SUSE/RHEL Linux & Solaris Servers.
• Managing, patching, monitoring & primarily diagnose/troubleshoot/configuration IT server infrastructure, application services, server alerts, events or issues.
• HP Physical Servers.
• Creating documentation, SOPs
• Collate and interpret data from various monitoring sources and perform log analysis
• Ability to assess faults, prioritizes & respond accordingly
• Knowledge of IT operations, responsibilities, workflow processes and procedures, ITIL framework
• Self-motivated, professional attitude and works well under pressure.
• Should be able to function independently, with limited supervision

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor’s Degree or technical institute degree/diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field.
• RHEL or SUSE Linux, Solaris certification
