The Corporate Center of Excellence (CoE) for AI, Advanced Analytics and Big Data is working on #TheNextBigThing. Besides conducting cool use cases in the field of Data Analytics and AI, we are inventing, building and running eXtollo– a data analytics cloud platform based on Microsoft Azure for Daimler teams around the world. Our users trust in the cross-divisional platform to create secure and scalable cloud applications based on Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence & Big Data technologies. In addition to the provisioning and utilization of the technology we are also responsible for Daimler’s data treasure – the eXtollo Data Lake.
Role
We are searching you as a DevOps Engineer to continuously improve eXtollo within an agile working environment and reduce the complexity of cloud components into an integrated, easily manageable service for our users. As Lead Azure DevOps Engineer you will review the work of other engineers, discuss technical requirements with our platform architects and implement test-driven solutions using CI/CD pipelines.

Your first challenge will be to design and implement a Python-based Microservice architecture, which evolves our service into a collaborative, API-based platform. You will select tools and frameworks, define interfaces and manage the Microservices’ lifecycle.
Responsibilities

• Work experience as a Python Developer
• Expertise in at least one popular Python framework (like Django, Flask or Pyramid)
• Familiarity with front-end technologies (like JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3)
• Good understanding of server-side templating languages (Jinja 2, Mako, etc depending on your technology stack)
• Reviewing software design, code and other deliverables created by your team to guarantee high-quality results
• Analyzing requirements of the platform architects to ensure a compliant and secure infrastructure in the Azure cloud
• Ensuring interoperability between latest Azure products and existing components
• Designing software modules for automatic testing and continuous deployments
• Delivering realistic effort estimates as input for our platform roadmap
• Writing behavioral tests and unit tests with Gherkin
• Hands-on programming with Python, REST and OpenAPI
• Building CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps to deliver our services into various data centers worldwide
• Documenting and reviewing operating manuals for the first-level support
• Analyzing and solving incidents in productive environment while avoiding data loss and minimizing service outages
• Challenging current practices, giving feedback to colleagues and encouraging software development best-practices to build the best solution for our users

Job Qualifications
Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent work experience
• 5+ years of full time software development experience
• 3+ years of work experience with Azure or other cloud providers

– Advanced experience with at least one of the following topics:- Infrastructure-as-code development

• Networking concepts like routing, DNS, ACLs, VPN, etc.
• Distributed Computing (e.g. Big Data)

• Knowledge on how to handle compliance and security standards
• Advanced knowledge in DevOps, Continuous Deployment and testing techniques
• Advanced knowledge of software development practices like Scrum and

Test-Driven Development

• Excellent social and communication skills for mentoring and knowledge sharing
• Fluent English in spoken and written

Preferred Qualifications

• Microsoft Azure Certifications
• Working experience with Gherkin, Git and Azure DevOps
• Advanced know-how about following Azure services: Virtual Networks, Automation Accounts, Role Based Access Control, Data Factory, App Service Plan, Virtual Machines, Kubernetes services, Data Lake Storage, Log Analytics and/or Storage Account
