OVERVIEW OF THE DEPARTMENT

The International Wealth Management Asia Operations Asset Transfer team is responsible for supporting Private Wealth Management business unit in Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia.

TheAsset Transfer teamwithin Asia Wealth Management (AWM) Operations is responsible for entering of securities and cash into the various Morgan Stanley systems to support cash and securities movements into and out of Morgan Stanley, as well as internal movements of cash and stock. The team Supports asset transfer activities (Cash and Security Transfers) for clients of IWM Asia in Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore

The team provides support for the foregoing process on: Callback and Signature Verification, Cash, Cheques and Cashier Orders Handling, Hedge and Mutual Funds Transfer, Journals, Other cash related functions, Same day FX and Securities transfer.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Key responsibilities include:

• Daily Supervisory oversight of the functions the team are responsible for
• Manage and implement supervisory procedures
• Escalating risk related items to management on a timely and effective manner, set out in the Service Level Agreements & KRI Thresholds
• Acting as the key point contact person / Stakeholder Management
• Management Reporting
• Fostering an open communication environment to encourage streamline mindset for effective and better process.
• Managing the team as a whole to provide guidance and encouragement through regular training and catchup.
• Manage ad-hoc business requests
• Pro-actively contributing towards the drive to improve process efficiency
• Involvement in projects requiring IWM Asia operations input
• Managing team capacity, with flexibility to cover BAU tasks for team coverage if necessary, including but not limited to:
• Processing of asset transfer requests (Payments / Receipts) from the business
• Liaise with business to clarify any discrepancies
• Work with authorizers to ensure asset transfer requests are processed in a timely manner
• Liaise with the various departments to resolve any issues that may affect the timely settlement of the asset transfers
• Processing of journals

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate will be/have:

• 9-13 years of experience in Investment Banking Operations or financial services industry (preferably with Asset Transfer, Payments and Settlements functions)
• Attention to detail, accuracy & quality
• Have a strong Risk framework mindset
• Experience in escalating risk issues to senior management or other business stakeholders
• People management experience (1-2-1’s, annual appraisals, performance management)
• Experience preparing team procedures and assessing team controls
• Ability to work in a fast pace environment
• Able to work in a fluid team environment and within tight deadlines
• Strong in building relationship with Senior stakeholders
