Department Profile Global Banking Technology (GBT) is a dynamic and fast-paced area within the Firm’s WM Technology Division. We are responsible for creating innovative technology solutions for the Private Banking Group (PBG), one of the strategic growth areas of the Firm, providing cash management and lending products and services to our WM clients. This includes state-of-the-art technology for a nationwide network of Private Bankers and product specialists who work with Financial Advisors to provide access to products and services such as online banking, cards, deposit products, residential mortgages, and securities-based loans and tailored lending. The Data & Risk team within GBT is a horizontal team responsible for supporting data and reporting needs of various GBT functions like Lending, Deposits, Payments and Mortgages, with domain and technology expertise. Team also deals with data monitoring focused on delivering tactical and strategic solutions to support bank’s compliance to Regulation W. It also owns the silver copy of Wealth Management Client and Account reference data and the financial data held centrally in Books & records systems. Apart from that it also provides data downstream to various consumers like risk, regulatory, operational, compliance, pricing, cash management and lending systems for their reporting, analytics and audit requirements. Role Profile
The role is an Executive Director position to lead the GBT Data and Risk Management India team. The team comprises of software developers (Data – Big Data/DWH, ETL and Reporting/Visualization), business & data analysts and QA testers. The ideal candidate embodies the core values being client focused, lead with excellence, do the right thing, and is team oriented. The candidate is expected to bring knowledge of Agile principles and values, ceremonies, experiences in collaboration across complex organizations, removing impediments, and ensuring team progress towards their missions and deliverables. Candidate must possess strong leadership skills to manage and grow a diverse team of employees and vendors.
As the lead for GBT Data & Risk team, you will be the primary technology partner for key stakeholders across the organization. You will help define, implement, enable and manage the strategic vision for Enterprise Data Management & Data Lake for GBT. You will work closely with Risk officers of Morgan Stanley Bank, N.A. and Morgan Stanley Private Bank, N.A. to develop the analytics, reporting, and tracking of Reg W exceptions This a critical leadership role necessary to help enable and scale our Enterprise Data Lake and Analytics capability that services internal and external customers with actionable insights and reports. You will also be responsible for maturing our Agile and DevOps practices of the Data and Risk team CULTURE

• Build strong technical Data and Analytics team with deep SME to support business with complete accountability and ownership
  Build strong data engineering culture by being able to guide technical team members with timely inputs on design/architecture and providing vision.

• Lead Firm/Department/Project level stretch tasks like

DATA & RISK MANAGEMENT TEAM LEADERSHIP

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Skills:

• 15+ years of proven technical leadership experience in relational databases, Big data stack, data integration & reporting/analytics technology, preferably in Financial Services
  Experience in implementation of Data Lake using Big Data technologies like Hadoop stack, Data Warehouse implementations using MPP/Relational databases like Teradata, DB2, Greenplum.
  Strong expertise in Data Modeling, Data integration/transformation in connecting, and processing structured/unstructured data. Should be able to make right modern technology choices like Apache Spark, Kafka, Hive, Spark etc.
  Working Knowledge of Reporting and Analytics solutions/tools like Tableau, Power BI or Business Objects
  Defining reference architecture, data architecture, and data integration/consumption framework to ensure its in firm strategic direction
  Define and enforce data governance processes, procedures and policies for enterprise data analytics.
  Should have built and implemented an enterprise-wide strategy to collect metadata, combined with data management and data Lineage
  Enabling proactive Data Quality frameworks and capabilities within an analytics environment across multiple data platforms. Partner with key stakeholders to continuously improve data quality through key process and technical improvements.
  Conducting reviews of new data projects or enhancements to ensure that development work conforms with architectural standards. Monitor and incorporate industry innovations.
  Work with various GBT departments like Payments, Deposits, Lending and Mortgages, and executive management teams to create a data enabled user journey.
  Experience with Data management in the cloud
  Excellent analytical, communication, collaboration and negotiations skills
  Well versed in leading in an Agile organization
  Highly self-motivated, self-directed, and attentive to detail with ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred from an accredited college/university

Desired Skills:
Good understanding or experience in the following technologies:

• Hadoop Stack
  Relational/MPP databases like Teradata, DB2, Greenplum etc.
  Data Integration background with latest technologies like Hive, Spark, Scoop, Python
  Reporting Analytics tools exposure like Tableau, Power BI or BusinessObjects
  Excellent Data Analysis skills and preferable to have strong SQL query language background
  Knowledge of Data Services and provisioning on Cloud providers, preferably Azure or AWS
  Effectively able to Hire, Coach, Manage and retain team members with strong Data background both Employee and Vendors

Preferred Skills:

  Experience with Java (8+) programming using Spring and Spring Boot and Web development
