Job Description

Your team responsibilities MSCI has a number of new ambitious Java projects. This is an excellent opportunity to join the Equity Index IT team, as part of a delivery-focused IT group responsible for designing, developing and supporting internal, client and public-facing distribution solutions. Your responsibilities will include developing new Product Distribution mechanisms, encompassing client-side JavaScript and server-side Java applications development. The core functionalities in these products will include storing, analyzing, distributing and visualizing large time series datasets. We are looking for someone who is passionate about learning & exploiting the latest Java and web technologies and has a proven track record of building high-quality applications. If selected, you will work as part of a delivery focused and talented software development team responsible for designing, developing and supporting high quality index product generation & distribution platforms. Your key responsibilities

• Build the future Equity Index Product Distribution platform
• Collaborate with Product Management, Program Management and other internal stakeholders to convert business requirements in to formal specifications and deliver these as part of a release roadmap
• Improve and create a modern and sophisticated platform using the latest Java & JavaScript technologies, following industry best practices
• Evaluate different Architectural & Design approaches, solutions, frameworks & technologies and recommend the most suitable one
• Develop best practices for architecture, design, coding & automated test coverage
• Architect, Design and develop secure, high performance, scalable & maintainable applications using appropriate architectural patterns & latest Java, JavaScript & Oracle technologies.
• Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture team to develop & use common Architectural principles
• Present Architectural approach to Senior Architects & Executive Management and get their concurrence

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

• A University Graduate or Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
• Experience developing Java and Web applications in a large product development environment
• Expertise in architecting & designing large, high performance, scalable & maintainable systems
• Mastery over Object Oriented Design, Data Structures & Algorithms and ORM
• Good understanding of Relational Database concepts
• Keen interest in keeping abreast of latest developments in Information Technology
• Expertise in core Java development including collections, multi-threading, network programming & performance monitoring
• Practical experience of using Java frameworks such as Spring & Hibernate
• Knowledge of Java Development & Deployment Tools like Ant, Maven, Sonar, Corbetura, Hudson
• Knowledge of core web technologies – HTML, JavaScript, XML, CSS and Web Standards
• Knowledge of distributed caching solutions like Infinispan & Coherence
• Experience with modern JavaScript libraries/frameworks like jQuery, Ext JS, Angular JS, Flex for building Rich Internet Applications
