The Technology team @ Oportun is dedicated to delivering and maintaining performant, elegant, and intuitive systems to our business partners and retail customers. We work on a very unique platform, combining service-oriented platform services with sophisticated user experiences, all enabled through a best-in-class (and fun to use!) automated development infrastructure. We prove that FinTech is more fun, more challenging, and in our case, more rewarding as we build technology that changes our customers’ lives. Oportun serves customers in English and Spanish, online and over the phone in 29 states, and in-person at more than 330 retail locations in 9 of those states.
With the launch of the OPRT Development Center in India in December 2019, Oportun embraced a global approach to innovation. Our technology development center plays a critical role in developing and improving Oportun technology, analytics, and systems including technology for financial products, enhancing our customer experience and supporting our mobile servicing platform. Based in Chennai, the ODC is an essential building block of Oportun’s technology-driven business which we aim to grow into the hub of technology and innovation for Oportun, furthering our mission-based, technology-powered approach to providing inclusive, affordable, and empowering financial services.
This is a role where you can take responsibility in leading the technology effort – from technical
Work with other engineers to develop automation scripts and Utilities used by team on daily basis
Play a significant role in the ongoing evolution and refinement of current products and platforms through one or more of
functional testing (manual and automation)
execution and automation of regression tests
Help triage, troubleshoot, escalate and provide resolution to production issues.
Document and escalate product defects to the Engineering Team.
Identify and escalate priority issues that need immediate attention.
Collaborate with cross functional teams which requires strong presentation skills and attention to details
8-10 years professional experience in quality assurance or/and software application development.
3-5 years’ experience in Java (TestNG), Selenium Webdriver (Grid, parallel, SauceLabs), frontend and backend test automation.
Strong in writing SQL queries
Ability to perform both Manual and Automated Testing
Experience working with Git repositories.
Working knowledge in different browsers and operating systems
Must possess excellent written/oral communication and organizational skills with the ability to work within a growing company with increasing needs.
Experience with setting up Test Strategies for large scale applications
Must possess a comprehensive understanding of the Software Development Process, QA best practices and methodologies
Efficient in testing using UI and RESTAPI’s.
Experience in the following:
UI Automation experience – preferably with Protractor or similar framework
REST API Automated Testing using Java, TestNG, RestAssured or similar.
CI/CD via Jenkins or similar
Tools like Jira or similar, Confluence – Wiki, Jenkins – CI tool, Eclipse/IntelliJ, Maven, Visual Studio code
SQL/Database testing
Batch Process Testing
