Roles & Responsibilities

• Responsible for underwriting complete product offerings including automated and manual underwriting of mortgage loans.
• Analyse and evaluate residential loan applications in accordance with industry and business unit standards.
• Demonstrate sound judgment in the analysis of required documentation while mitigating organization risk through appropriate decision making.
• In depth knowledge of all legal, compliance, regulatory and investor requirements for the product set.
• Develop and maintain a loan underwriting portfolio consistent with guidelines for credit quality and Investor or Insurer standards.
• Ability to calculate income (salaried as well as self employed) to accurately determine Debt to Income ratio
• Respond to quality control and audit reviews when requested in a timely manner.
• Approve and/or deny loans within certain limits and make credit structure and loan eligibility decisions.
• Proactively suggest program alternatives for customers who do not qualify for terms initially submitted.
• Ability to manage and underwrite a big pipeline of loans with speed and accuracy

Experience:

• 2+ years mortgage UW and industry experience
• Extensive knowledge of underwriting guidelines
• Experience with and designations for FHA, VA loans underwriting preferred
• Detail and organizational skills
• Excellent Customer service skills along with written and verbal communication skills
• High School or Equivalent (GED) required, Certification, Licensure or other education training
