Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.
As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.
Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.

Responsibilities
As a Principal ARM and Linux Performance Engineer, you will be a member of a fast-paced Engineering team that is unblocking customers from onboarding to Ampere A1 based ARM servers. You will analyze and identify areas to improve the performance of a variety of applications. Ranging from optimizing Linux Kernel, to distributed applications. You will also help port and optimize latest versions of packages which are not natively found on ARM yet.
As part of your responsibilities, you will work in a highly collaborative and agile environment alongside stakeholders from the development teams, product management, and operations team.
The candidate will enable complex performance testing, monitoring, and tuning of Virtual machines (KVM) and host running on Linux (OL7/Ubuntu) servers to ensure system service level objectives
Analyzes highly complex system resource usage and configures CPU and memory resources.
Work with development initiatives to proactively provide input on design/implementation considerations to ensure good performance.
Create architecture documents, operations process, and procedure documents, troubleshooting documents, and run books
Data analysis and drill down for root cause analysis using both manual and automated techniques
Maintain a high-level understanding of emerging cloud and virtualization technologies
Solve problems in complex environments – investigate, fix and resolve issues.
Communicate findings and provide recommendations to other teams to improve product quality and performance
Minimum Qualifications
8+ years of industry experience in performance-related work
Bachelors or master’s degree in mathematics, Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent combination of education and job-related experience.
Experience with Linux (RHEL/CentOS) Systems, including kernel and userspace tools, as well as virtualization technologies (especially KVM).
Strong troubleshooting skills and hands-on knowledge of profiling/debugging tools such as DTrace, gdb, perf, or SystemTap.
Practical experience with modern Linux systems and systems programming concepts like C, sockets, virtual memory, and the process life cycle.
Confident in shell scripting and Linux system administration, including network configuration
Analytical mind with attention to detail and desire to probe further
Good communication skills: both written and verbal, along with the ability to communicate complex procedures
Excellent organizational skills, along with the ability to remain focused on completing tasks and meeting goals
Broad experience with Linux kernel troubleshooting interfaces (as provided by user-space tools and the filesystem; networking/disk/sockets / PCI devices/process scheduling / etc…).
In-depth knowledge of writing and maintaining shell scripts.
Strong skills in writing and maintaining Python scripts and libraries.
Ability to configure and troubleshoot server hardware (BIOS, PXE, RAID, etc…).
Ability to evaluate systems performance results and participate in analyzing anomalies.
Ideal Qualifications
Experience in optimizing distributed systems like the Hadoop ecosystem (i.e. Hive, Impala, Kudu)
Experience performance optimizing Linux Kernels and applications for ARM
Experience in performance optimizing ML based workloads
Hands-on experience with containerization, Kubernetes, public cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure and/or GCP) and mesh-networks
