Job Description

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.

Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.

Responsibilities

This position is for the role of DevOps Engineer for Oracle Banking Microservices Platform (OBMA) team which falls under Financial Services Business Global Unit (FSGBU) of Oracle. In FSGBU we develop mission critical applications used by Financial Institutions worldwide. We are building the next generation applications using Oracle Cloud, PaaS and SaaS offerings from Oracle’s technology and application portfolio to enhance our customers experience, modernize our technology stack, and accelerate our release cycle. OBMA is a next generation platform based on microservices architectural principles. The new platform offers a foundational horizontal layer upon which individual vertical applications are built. These applications span both mid-office and back-office functions. Most of the Oracle banking applications are mandated to move to this new platform in coming years. The foundational horizontal layer has a set of base technical and functional components. This a highly visible and critical next generation platform which will serve Oracle Banking and Financial applications for next few years.

You would be responsible for:

• Assist in implementing continuous integration & continuous delivery strategies.

• Identify automation opportunities, design, build, and deploy best DevOps practices in an agile way of working.

• Assist in design and maintain complex Jenkins build pipelines for automatic testing and deployment to catch bugs, performance regressions, stability issues.

• Assist in optimizing build pipelines for server utilization

• Design, create and maintain Docker containers

• Advise and fix issues in Gradle configurations

• Support develoment team members across the locations on build and environment issues.

Essential Skills

• Graduate or Post Graduate degree in Computer Science or equivalent qualification

• Minimum 6 years of DevOps experience for an enterprise application working in a commercial environment

• Experience with implementing continuous integration and delivery, CI/CD with their underlying technologies / tools (e.g. Jenkins, GIT, Gradle/Maven, Artifactory)

• Experience working with cloud computing technologies, (e.g. GCP/AWS/Oracle/OpenStack)

• Experience with Microservices architecture, configuration, development, and deployment with their underlying technologies including Docker/Kubernetes, Helm, and Prometheus

• Strong scripting or programming skills for automating repetitive tasks

• Good Debugging and troubleshooting skills

• Ability to influence others without having direct management responsibility

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear, concise manner to all audiences.
