Job Description

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.

The role with Oracle Database Administrator expertise is as a Site Reliability Engineer to work alongside other SRE team members closely with a shared Oracle Cloud Infrastructure full stack. The responsibility involves ownership of a collection of services and/or technology areas to be used for testing of MAA pre-production stage deployed on high end production like test systems. Understand the end-to-end configuration, technical dependencies, and overall behavioural characteristics of production services specifically Oracle Fusion SaaS’s business-critical workloads. SRE’s responsibility will be for the extensive testing , developing critical test cases and delivery of the mission critical stack with focus on security, resiliency, scale, and performance and certifying the usage for production. Partner with development teams by reporting bugs , defining and implementing improvements in product. Understand and communicate the scale, capacity, security, performance attributes, and requirements of the service and technology stack.

Detailed Responsibilities

• Testing and certifications of Database products.

• Conduct extensive testing of Oracle database HA, data protection and disaster recovery

• Implement and validate all MAA best practices and asses how these help prevent, detect, tolerate and repair from various outages.

• Exadata is Oracle’s best MAA platform for its differentiated HA, data protection and quality of service capabilities.

• All of these testing will be conducted on Exadata systems and along with other technologies like RAC, ADG, GoldenGate, ASM, etc.

• Extensive testing on HA, data protection and disaster recovery will executed to ensure excellent architecture, configuration and life cycle practices in Oracle cloud.

• Design & Develop Highly Automated Multi-Tier/Multi-Stack System/Stress Test Suites/Workloads for Testing and Certifications.

• Develop test cases and configs to simulate business critical workload and usage scenarios.

• Develop and integrate various critical Oracle Fusion database operations into test cases to simulate in the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

• Develop and Maintain Test Specs/Plans/Methodologies and then Design, and Implement End-to-End Test Suites/Frameworks simulating Real-world production systems.

• Extensive upgrade and Patching testing simulating production like load.

• Research and Development

• Reviewing production issues and identifying gaps in the test suite and implementing these as test cases.

• This may include DB Schema Design/Normalisation, Data generation, Load generation and Application/Business Logic programming in Oracle SQL, PL-SQL, Perl/Shell/Python and JDBC/JMS or Python.

• Review New Functionality/Features in NextGen Oracle Database releases and review.

• Performance Tuning and pro-active measurements of future planning.

• Backup & Recovery Strategy.

• Log and track product defects (bugs), Collaborating closely with Development teams to resolve problems encountered in these Multi-tier test simulations.

• Develop Automation tools, Simulation Apps and Re-usable Framework for efficient System/Stress Testing.

• Participate in Product Feature Review, Certification experiments and User Document reviews.

Technical qualifications

Minimum Requirements for this job role

• 8-14 years of Oracle database experience helping Enterprise customer(s)

• Database hands on skills especially around database and system troubleshooting and administration

• RAC setup and administration

• Good oral and written communication

• Strong Linux/UNIX OS understanding including OS Architecture & Internals (Networking, File Systems, Process/Memory Monitoring/Tuning/Linux Virtualization etc).

• Programming/Scripting skills in one or more of below languages is required.

• Scripting – Perl / Shell / Python, Microservices/REST APIs

• Programming – Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, Java/JDBC, Python

• B.E, M.E./MS in CS/ECE/EE, MCA from Reputed Engineering Colleges preferred.

• Preferred other MAA technologies experience

• Good written communication to create best practice and solutions

• Experience in developing Test case , automation and orchestration.
