Job Description

Business Intelligence at Paypal democratizes data and insights and delivers critical analytics to every aspect of the business. The outcomes from the BI team critically influence key strategic and business plans. As the business evolves and data applications and platforms continue to advance, so does the need for increase support of emerging BI initiatives. The Business Intelligence – Project Manager role will play a driving role in scoping, aligning, and ensuring efficient delivery of analytical BI and Data infrastructural projects. This role requires a strategic-minded individual with a solid background in data visualization and program management skills that can communicate effectively across a range of stakeholders in a rapid moving environment to drive process, set structure, and led BI team projects successfully from inception to steady state.
Own full BI and analytics request pipeline Manage and lead a large portfolio of BI and data infrastructural projects. Lead the planning and prioritization meetings, identify cross-functional dependencies, anticipate, minimize and mitigate risks, provide organization and focus for Analytics team to ensure requests align with BI team objectives

Develop and deliver excellent presentations, weekly progress memos, and roadmaps the executive team to capture latest progress of cross functional BI product.

Plan and successfully head any BI team transformation projects. Establish clear roles and responsibilities across BI, analytics and respective stakeholder team and lead as the driving force behind the process of aligning working team and key organizational stakeholders.

Collaborate with project team members to complete business and scoping requirements for BI Tools or Data infrastructure implementation project. Translate requirements into clear project plans with an understanding of roles and responsibilities, dependencies, timeline and costs coordinating overall workflow with larger resource pool as necessary. Take necessary pro-active measures to ensure projects are on-track.

Lead as an active thought-partner in the mockup or orchestration of dashboards. Take charge with a curiosity driven mindset to support with driving clarity on dashboard components including aligning KPI definitions and ensuring visualizations are vetted and approved by end customer teams.

Maintain BI team documentation repositories such as SharePoint and Confluence including related tools that support communication and collaboration around this information (e.g. dedicated Slack channel, Asana, etc.)

Own the production, development and maintenance roadmaps of data cubes, reports, Tableau dashboards. Prioritize analyses to meet SLAs. Automation & streamlining of existing processes to provide efficient solutions to the business

Establish project health reporting metrics, boards and templates to document and track progress. Lead communication of project status info at an established cadence depending on business need.

Track and triage reporting fields and objects for consistency and integrity, play a key role in the governance of business data and BI usage.

Support the vision and values of the broader Analytics Program Management & Operations team with potential side projects including: planning and leading education learning series, support broader newsletter creation, brown bag session content development or x-domain support as needed.

Skills and Qualifications:

4 years of experience working in a project management function in or alongside Analytics, Business Intelligence (BI) or database development teams

General understanding of common Analytical BI or Visualization tools (e.g. Looker, Tableau, Qlik sense) with comfortable understanding of KPIs, metrics, data flows, business query logic to assist team with planning and documentation.
