Position Objective

To ensure quality and adnce to house style rules in written materials by PETA India

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

In consultation and verified compliance with the objectives, standards, and requirements communicated by PETA India:

Edit copy by PETA India, including news releases, statements, correspondence, other public communications, website content, reports, fundraising materials, printed materials, video text, and internal documents, ensuring quality and adnce to PETA India style and standard operating procedures

Learn and implement PETA India style rules

Coordinate with colleagues in line with approval procedures and manage deadlines efficiently, adapting to changing events and competing priorities

Prepare weekly reports detailing editing requests and completed projects

Be on call for after-hours work periodically

Perform any other editorial functions assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications

Advanced degree in a course of study requiring extensive writing and editing in English (e.g. English, journalism, philosophy, history, law)

Minimum of five years of practical editing experience

Proven excellent knowledge of English grammar and usage

Excellent knowledge of Indian honorifics, legal terminology, and writing conventions

Demonstrated exemplary attention to detail and ability to exercise good judgement

Proven ability to apply knowledge and experience in a deadline-intensive environment

Proven excellent project management and organisation skills

Strong multitasking capability

Ability to work well amid frequent work-related interruptions

Ability to work independently as a remote worker, including demonstrating excellent communication and engagement with colleagues, self-motivation, and a strong work ethic

Excellent research skills

Computer proficiency

Knowledge of animal rights issues

Commitment to a healthy vegan lifestyle

Commitment to the objectives of the organisation
