Position Description

Position Purpose

This position will support the Direct Tax Lead in the processing and operational delivery of all aspects of Direct Taxation. This will involve calculation and processing of tax liability accurately, coordinating with the Finance team for payments, undertaking all statutory and regulatory compliances related to direct tax, etc. The role will also ensure all documentation related to direct taxation compliance is maintained up to date.

Operational Responsibilities

Tax Processing & Documentation

• Support Direct Tax Lead in undertaking all direct tax processes and compliances, including corporate tax, transfer pricing, tax financials related schedule / certifications, withholding tax computation and advisory.
• Undertake 1st level computation of tax liability for the organization and present the same for review and sign off to the Direct Tax Lead and Head Taxation.
• Coordinate with the payment processing team to undertake timely remittances of income tax related payments to avoid any interest or penalty.
• Work closely with the Controls & Compliance team to calculate tax quarterly reporting figures including Deferred Tax.
• Coordinate with the required Consultant for obtaining Transfer Pricing Report and certification.
• Support Shared Services team in updating the exemption certificates’ details and accurate mapping of TDS keys in the Vendor Master.
• Support Shared Services team to process TDS Challans in SAP every month and make online payment of the same with clearing.
• Prepare TDS returns on Quarterly basis.
• Review quarterly TDS returns filed w.r.t. the services provided, threshold limits, advance amount settlement, etc.
• Deposit the required differential TDS before due date, in case of discovery of any discrepancy.
• Maintain all documents / certificates / receipts etc., related to Direct tax compliance / payments in an up to date manner.
• Collate and prepare details w.r.t. annual CA certificate to be filed in relation to SEZ unit, in-house R&D centre, captive power plant, etc.

Compliance

• Coordinate with the Controls & Compliance Team for all financial regulatory compliance for the Company with all relevant statutes, regulations (both internal and external) and accounting standards that are relevant for Direct Tax.
• Keep track of timelines and due dates for tax reporting, filing of tax returns, tax forms and other tax compliances with regards to Direct Tax and undertake required compliance for the same
• Support Direct Tax Lead in getting information on any changes in Tax Legislations related to Direct Tax, assistance in analysing impact of such changes to the company’s current or proposed tax position and provides inputs to the Lead.

Litigation

• Undertake any research work that may be required by the Direct Tax Lead for preparation of any tax assessment issues, pending cases and litigation.

Audits

• Prepare information and data required for the tax audits / assessments with relation to Direct Tax.
• Finalize form 3CD of Tax Audit and lead timely e-filing of the Tax Returns.
• Provide any additional information sought by the auditors from time to time and respond to routine queries.
• Coordinate with the local Controls & Compliance team at respective Businesses / Plants / Zones for any information required by auditors in relation to Direct Tax.

Stakeholder Management

• Prepare and timely dispatch the TDS certificates to Plant offices, Zonal offices and Vendors, as required.
• Consult with the Direct Tax Lead and respond to routine queries raised by statutory departments related to direct taxation or any other cess in an appropriate and timely manner.

Respond to any routine Direct Tax related questions raised by internal stakeholders / employees.

Financial Responsibilities

• Support the Direct Tax Lead in timely payment of tax liabilities and filing of returns to avoid any interest and penalties.
• Assisting Direct Tax Lead in identifying tax optimisation opportunities and management to reduce effective tax rate liability as per applicable provision of the law.

• B.Com, CA

Work Experience

• 3-5 years’ experience with exposure to Direct Taxation

Industry to be Hired from

• Manufacturing or related industry/ MNC preferred
