IT Manager roles and responsibilities are a combination of technical and functional management roles. It is essential to have excellent communication and coordination skills to successfully integrate various functions in a coordinated manner and deliver the responsibilities to the team’s satisfaction.
The role needs to be conversant with all the technical as well as IT operations aspects for integrated software management. They are expected to handle various requirements like Cloud management, System management, User Management, Upgrades, Testing, etc. for the in-house software systems within the Organization. The three areas of focus are cloud management, requirement and planning and system administration.
Roles and Responsibilities:
System Administration
Defining and setting development, test, release, update, and support processes for softwares on AWS servers (Linux and Windows)
Managing the user administration and other software configuration requirements
Helping in the implementation of new development tools and software projects
Cloud Management
It involves overseeing the deployment, operation, and maintenance of cloud-based infrastructure and services offered by AWS but not limited to. This includes planning and implementing strategies for managing instances, storage, databases, and other AWS resources, ensuring that they are optimized for performance and cost efficiency.
Responsible for monitoring and maintaining the security and compliance of the AWS infrastructure, as well as ensuring that disaster recovery and business continuity plans are in place.
Must stay up-to-date with the latest AWS technologies and services, evaluate new features and functionalities, and provide guidance and training to team members to ensure that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to work with AWS effectively.
Requirement and Planning
The IT manager must plan and implement strategies for the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of both cloud and on-premise systems.
Understanding the needs of stakeholders, Team members and conveying them to development vendors
Managing periodic progress reporting to the management and the team leaders
Encouraging and building automated processes wherever possible
Planning projects and being involved in project management decisions
Produce feedback as part of the continuous improvement process
Required Experience:
Experience as a System Administrator or in a similar software engineering role
Proficiency with Git workflows
Knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems
Problem-solving attitude
Collaborative team spirit
Must have Bachelor in Computer Science
Soft Skills:
Good communication, Adapting communication to different people profiles
Quick Learner with Rigorous Applying methods with patience
Capacity for analysis and synthesis, Identifying root cause analysis
Versatile (able to switch between technical and functional expertise)
Capability to identify issues, project delays, system failures, etc.
Open-minded, Curious, and Team Spirit Working in a team environment
