About the job

The Red Hat Developer Tools Engineering team is looking for an Associate Manager to join our Pipelines team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing, leading, and growing a geographically distributed team of software engineers. You and your team will contribute directly to deliver Managed Pipelines Service capabilities. You will engage and work closely with partners, peer groups, and in open source communities. As a manager, project activities include collaborating with engineering stakeholders and effectively balancing business priorities and team capacity, while embracing and amplifying Red Hat’s core values of freedom, courage, commitment, and accountability.

As a manager, you will manage associate consultations, including one-on-one meetings, escalation situations, performance and development, and general team coordination within your Team.

What you will do

• Manage and lead a high performance team of globally distributed engineers

• Contribute to delivery of Managed Pipelines Service team’s objectives through the definition and delivery of strategic goals of the Managed Pipelines Service Engineering team

• Proactively manage your team’s technical contributions and delivery of Managed Pipelines Services features

• Foster collaboration across multiple teams to ensure priorities are coordinated and collaboration is effective

• Be your team’s advocate when negotiating project work, schedules, deadlines, and priorities

• Coach, mentor, and guide your team, fostering continuous improvement in a rapidly changing environment

• Ensure the team’s work is promoted and publicized through blogs, web postings, and conference talks

• Coordinate knowledge sharing within and outside the company

• Lead all associates in managing their professional careers and personal growth

What you will bring

• Ability to constructively collaborate with senior managers, peer managers, and product managers

• Experience with managing and project leading of a team of engineers; leadership and mentoring skills

• Flexibility to work with a geographically distributed remote working team.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

• Familiar with agile or scrum methodologies

• K8s Exposure to understand nuances around it

• Good to have Tekton or relevant technology exposure

• Have worked in past on CI/CD related projects

• Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize and work under strict deadlines

• Ability to learn and apply new skills and processes quickly

• Solid experience with at least one software development methodology.

• Good understanding of cloud technologies, including application development and infrastructure
