The Red Hat Innovation Life Cycle Management Office is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join us in Pune, India. In this role, you will work as a member of a newly established, highly dynamic, and fast-paced team. As part of the product development team, you’ll need to be creative, motivated, and proficient in building innovative front-end and back-end applications. You’ll work closely with different teams, stakeholders, product owners, and program managers to design, document, and develop solutions. You should also have a focused skill set, experience with advanced development, expertise in Java and JavaScript (including frameworks), and solid fundamentals in computer science.

What you will do

• Design, document, develop, test, and maintain applications in Java and frameworks like Spring Boot and Quarkus

• Design, document, develop, test, and maintain applications in JavaScript and frameworks like React.js, Angular, and Svelte

• Collaborate with product owners, program managers, different teams, and engineering managers; analyze and clarify business requirements to implement data model and business logic

• Effectively communicate to stakeholders and project team members to ensure proper visibility of development efforts

• Work as part of an agile team to actively communicate status and complete deliverables on schedule

• Review code merge requests from other team members for new features

• Write unit and integration tests and work with quality engineers to ensure application quality and maintainability

• Plan and work unsupervised on complex projects

• Build and deploy applications to Red Hat OpenShift Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and public clouds, i.e., Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS), etc.

• Ensure that non-functional requirements, including performance, scalability, resiliency, maintainability, security, etc., are met according to defined standards

• Resolve bugs, performance problems, and other issues with production applications

What you will bring

• 5+ years of professional Java and JavaScript (including frameworks) development experience

• Solid object-oriented software development skills

• Understanding of web application infrastructure and fundamentals like REST and HTTP

• Understanding of public cloud concepts and development practices

• Experience with continuous delivery (CD), including build and deploy pipelines like Jenkins, and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) tools like Red Hat OpenShift or Kubernetes

• Software development life cycle skills; ability to use standard tools for development on Linux like Maven and Docker and issue tracking systems like Jira

• Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases

• Distributed source control experience with software like Git, including continuous integration (CI) workflows

• Solid written and verbal communication skills in English; ability to communicate effectively in a global team

• Ability to work unsupervised in a fast-paced environment; enjoying learning on your own

The following are considered a plus:

• Passionate about applied innovation and creativity

• Motivated to help others solve problems

• Experience building chatbots with Slack, Google Chat, etc.

• Experience with GCP offerings like Cloud Build, Cloud Run, etc.

• Experience creating architectural diagrams with different tools
