About the job

The Red Hat Storage Engineering team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join us in Bangalore, India. In this role you will join our efforts to harness the power of innovative technologies, like Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift, Rook, NooBaa, and Red Hat Ceph Storage, in building and maintaining storage as a service solution. You will design and implement solutions to connect between product and managed service. You will collaborate with multiple Red Hat engineering teams and open source communities around the world as part of a geographically distributed team. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will lead innovation, influence communities, and mentor team members.

What you will do

• Play an active role in reimagining existing storage solutions for a managed service ecosystem

• Collaborate with Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) to design and implement innovative solutions for managed service deployment and life cycle automation

• Coordinate with team leads, architects, and other engineers on the design and architecture of our offerings

• Be responsible for the quality of our offerings, participate in peer code reviews and continuous integration (CI), and respond to security threats

• Lead technical design and architecture discussions with peers from within and outside of the team

• Work with Red Hat’s Global Customer Support team and partner support teams on resolving customer issues

• Work with the Quality Engineering (QE) team to ensure that projects are tested correctly

• Publicize the work of the team through blogs, web postings, or conference talks

What you will bring

• Knowledge of the container ecosystem like Kubernetes or Red Hat OpenShift

• Interest in or knowledge of storage technologies

• Experience with either Kubernetes Storage or a distributed storage system like Red Hat Ceph Storage

• 6+ years of experience in a Linux environment with one or more language like Golang, Python, C, or C++ Ability to quickly learn new technologies with minimal guidance; willingness to learn and work in languages like Go

• Proficient written and verbal communication skills in English

The following are considered a plus:

• Open source development experience

• Development or maintenance experience with managed services

• Development experience with Kubernetes

• Development experience with distributed storage platforms
