Purpose / Mission:

Head Oil & Gas Business Development is responsible for driving growth, identifying new opportunities, and establishing strategic partnerships in the upstream sector.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Business Strategy & Growth:

• Support in developing and execute business development strategies to expand upstream operations.
• Identify new opportunities & partnerships for investments/JVs.
• Align growth initiatives with company objectives and market trends.

Market & Opportunity Analysis:

• Conduct market research to identify emerging trends and potential assets.
• Assess competitive landscapes and regulatory environments.
• Evaluate exploration and production (E&P) investment opportunities.

Partnerships & Negotiations:

• Build and maintain relationships with oil & gas companies, investors, and stakeholders.
• Lead negotiations for joint ventures, farm-in/farm-out agreements, and acquisitions.
• Manage contract structuring, risk assessments, and due diligence.

Financial & Commercial Management:

• Work with finance teams to evaluate project feasibility and return on investment (ROI).
• Develop financial models, budgets, and cost estimates for upstream projects.
• Prepare & support business head for final investment presentation/submissions to management.

Leadership & Team Management:

• Work closely with business & operational teams for analysis & evolution.
• Collaborate with technical teams, legal, and finance for seamless deal execution.

Regulatory Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with industry regulations, environmental, and safety standards.
• Engage with government agencies and regulatory bodies as needed.

Competencies:

• Ability to think critically, analytically, and strategically.
• Deep insight into the investment community’s decision-making criteria
• Impeccable presentation, writing, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated knowledge of capital markets, financial performance metrics and financial statements
• Strong working knowledge of the oil & gas industry
• Strong understanding of domestic and international M&A regulatory environment
• Strong strategic & analytical thinking
• Good people skills, including ability to network and influence at a high level, both domestically and internationally
• Negotiation skills

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from reputable university in finance / business
• MBA in Finance preferred.
• Additional training in law desirable

Experience

• 20+ years of experience in upstream oil & gas business development.
• Strong knowledge of E&P contracts, asset valuation, and risk management.
• Proven record in securing deals, partnerships, and project financing.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
