Job Description

The applicant will be highly involved in quantification of catastrophic risk using a variety of databases and RMS models, and pursue model testing through RiskLink/ RMS(one) codes with critical review of inputs and result outputs in a logical manner. The person will be required for RiskLink testing of updated model components and RMS(One) testing for model certification purpose.
Key Accountabilities & Deliverables:

• Understand the in-depth working of RMS models to conduct appropriate analysis and model testing.
• Demonstrate good understanding of catastrophe modeling after structured training.
• Learn best practices in catastrophe modeling and reflect this in your day to day work.
• Overall responsible for model testing and provide high quality analysis of modeled results.
• Generate insight review of model component sensitivity and result outputs through series of analyses.
• Involve latest technology, additional data sources and domain knowledge in model testing and model review process.
• Proactive participate and provide critical support in model review process and development of risk model components.
• Develop and maintain documentation on model testing and model review activities.

Experience Required:

• Preferably Post Graduate (M.Tech) in Engineering/Civil Engineering, Atmospheric Science, Earth Science or Environmental Science from a reputable institution such as IIT.
• Two to three years of RMS experience in catastrophe hazard model development/ RiskLink analysis.
• Strong foundation in analytics and data analysis and processing
• Critical thinking skills, strong analytical and problem solving abilities.
• Working experience with both statistical and scientific languages R, VB, C/C++, FORTRAN, R, MATLAB, etc is essential.
• Good exposure of MS SQL, MS Access, MATLAB, MS Excel (on writing macros) is desirable.
• VBA and VB.Net is an added advantage as are a working knowledge of GIS tools (MapInfo, ArcInfo).
• Knowledge of natural catastrophe risk modeling domain would be advantageous.
• On hand experience on GIS application tools (ArcGIS, MapInfo) would also be advantageous.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
