Summary
The Vice President – Category, will lead the strategic direction and growth of the Category business, including procurement, operational activity and strategic marketing.
– He/she will work with each business vertical to lead centralized, direct and indirect sourcing and procurement efforts. This will include working with the internal stakeholder from initial need identification to final goods or service delivery to meet stakeholder needs.
– S/he will be responsible for business activities such as project estimating or quote formulation, project coordination, financial leadership and matrix interaction with the various business heads.
– Daily communication with business leadership and senior leadership is a critical aspect of the role.
Key Responsibilities :
– End to end ownership and accountability for the innovation and value proposition of the Product Category
– General management of category operations and project management. The process starts with demand management (via stakeholder management) that then drives supply analysis/strategy, supplier identification, sourcing execution (tendering), contract negotiation, delivery planning and monitoring, purchase execution, and then ongoing performance management and improvement
– Creating and developing a strategic long term plan for the development of the Category
– Development of range architecture based on consumer segment insights, regional requirements, marketplace knowledge and competitive data
– Contacting people from leading brands, distributors and importers to explore new business opportunities
– Planning, selection and implementation of processes and systems to streamline Category and Supply Chain Management
– Identification and realization of cost-saving and cost-reduction opportunities
– Apply knowledge and expertise to assist the local business units in strategy development, tender execution,contract negotiation and supplier performance evaluation, in regions where local requirements need to dominate
– Budget management for categories under management and for procurement
– Developing an exit strategy for unsuccessful products
– Becoming a leader in category ranging, pricing and promotions
– Maintain Distribution and Supply Chain Leadership
– Coordinating with suppliers is essential as part of an issue escalation process
– Work with the manager on Project Coordination with the contracts team to facilitate the quick approval of agreements between contractors and the company
– Work with the design team and suppliers on a product portfolio that attracts our customers and will lead to additional sales
– Interact with the Store GMs and DGMs to gain customer feedback on our ability to delight the customer and to deliver results beyond expectation
– Work with the corporate and regional leadership teams to expand our furniture capabilities into new geographies
– Perform employee reviews, goal setting, tracking of performance
