Job Purpose
Cost Management will provide costing support to sourcing teams for new and existing products. The incumbent optimizes the cost of materials through cost reduction initiatives and management of inflation related clauses in contracts with suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
Provide data relating to cost build up for various components to user departments for scenario planning
Negotiate costs, contracts and terms with suppliers, review and sign off on the costing norms with suppliers
Provide resource and technical support to the strategic sourcing team for New Product Development.
Validate the cost sheets prepared by strategic sourcing team for critical parts and verify cost cards for components of new and existing products
Participate in price negotiations with suppliers
Ensure adherence to business plan targets and cost reduction for components and achievement of cost reduction targets
Propose and implement alternatives for cost reduction to Head – Sourcing for existing vehicles
Lead the implementation of value engineering initiatives in collaboration with current engineering, sourcing and quality assurance teams
Provide costing data to support evaluation of alternative vendors, materials, volume-based discounts etc.
Provide relevant data to the sourcing teams to manage inflation related clauses in supplier contracts
Monitor and analyse variances in material costs, forecast risks and develop risk mitigation plans
Provide timely and objective feedback and monitor performance of team members
Oversee development and performance of functional staff as per departmental budgets and functional targets
Work Experience
Education
Diploma (Mechanical, Automobile, Electrical & Electronic)
NTTF (Tool & Die)
Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical, Automobile, Electrical & Electronic and Industrial Automation)
Experience
6+ years of experience in relevant stream automobile industry (OEMs, ancillaries)
