Site Reliability Engineering – Senior Engineering Manager
(Position in Bangalore, India)
THE ROLE
Rubrik is currently seeking a highly motivated, dedicated, and experienced senior engineering manager to lead the Site Reliability Engineering team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about managing a world-class SRE team at Rubrik. The primary goal of the team will be to achieve world-class reliability, scalability, and performance for all critical services and infrastructure for Rubrik SaaS offering, ultimately improving the customer experience of Rubrik services.
To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate must possess technical expertise and experience with large-scale SaaS services, as well as knowledge of GCP, Azure, and AWS cloud deployments, and key SRE concepts like Availability, Observability, Automation for Toil reduction, and Alerting. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining and driving SLAs, SLOs, and SLIs for Rubrik’s SaaS services, while also demonstrating excellent communication and collaboration skills across various functional teams. Additionally, experience in project, people, and stakeholder management will be essential for success.
Leadership, a sense of urgency, leading by example, and integrity are important traits required for this role. You will be responsible for driving the team to work closely across multiple engineering areas and locations, while holding the team accountable for achieving objectives and key results.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the team of Site reliability engineers at Rubrik’s Bangalore office with a focus on hiring, growth, and diversity. Empower the team to self-organize and achieve sustained high velocity and predictability by providing them with the necessary support and guidance. This includes creating a collaborative and inclusive environment where everyone can contribute their skills and expertise.
Developing team members through coaching, mentoring, and career development will be a critical part of your role. You will help team members maximize their potential, retain top talent, and grow their careers within Rubrik.
You will work with stakeholders to derive, drive, and implement the roadmap and objectives for the team. Your approach will be data-driven, and you will champion an atmosphere of continuous improvement.
To ensure operational rigor and discipline, you will organize sprint planning and daily stand-ups. This will help keep the team focused and accountable for delivering high-quality output.
You will be hands-on and participate in technical deep-dives to resolve issues and obstacles preventing the team from delivering high-quality output. This will require strong problem-solving skills and technical expertise.
Communication will be a key part of your role. You will need to communicate effectively with stakeholders and manage stakeholder satisfaction. You will need to set the right expectations and be capable of managing the satisfaction of the engineering, release management and support teams.
REQUIREMENTS
Proven track record of designing, building, optimizing, and maintaining infrastructure on a large scale
Experience with observability tools like splunk, datadog or new relic
Knowledge of defining and monitoring system quality measures, including SLO and SLA
Built tooling to improve reliability of systems, automated remediation of issues, or improve scalability
Design and implement service readiness reviews for anticipated high-volume times
Maintain follow the sun model for on-call rotation
Ensure documentation exists for runbooks and procedures, automate as much as possible
Socialize SRE culture across teams within the organization to publicize the value of SRE, mentor and train other engineers around proactive reliability decision making and planning
Knowledge and experience of public cloud vendors and their services (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc..)
BS CS/EE or equivalent with 10+ years of hands on experience, prior engineering management with excellent communication, management and leadership skills
