Shell’s Circular Ambition is that we become a leader in the Plastics Circular Economy (PCE) and use feedstock from 1M Tons of Plastics waste by 2025.

Working with the overall Global PCE programme lead and other regions, you will have the responsibility to develop strategies to enable access to competitive and resilient circular feedstock leading to entrepreneurial commercial constructs in the waste, recycling units and circular products.

What’s the role

As India Business Development Lead, your principal accountabilities would be:

• Identification of suspects/prospects through market scanning and screening of technology and commercial feasibility of prospects, jointly with Projects & Technology team

• Develop and manage a funnel of waste and plastics circularity opportunities in India. Management of the funnel will involve active building and maintaining of relationships with the myriad of 3rd party suspects and prospects in the region

• Active engagement with the prospects to develop understanding of likelihood of an opportunity being developed

• Exhibit flexibility, with an expectation that they will travel around country for face-to-face meetings to build relationships with prospects, Urban local bodies, and Shell teams

• Obtain strong analytical skills, good business writing skills, a good project mindset, and flexible stakeholder management skills

What we need from you

• Min 7-10 years’ experience in the commercial space

• Experience in origination or deal making

• Exceptional influencing, interpersonal communication, collaboration, and negotiation skills, and high emotional intelligence.

• Business development or market development experience is an advantage

• Self-motivated, resilient, and a great team player

• Self-motivated individuals with commitment to delivering tangible results – talks about outcome, and not the process or effort intensity

• Demonstrated ability to stretch and multi-task with high levels of ownership

• Curiosity to learn new topics through own effort and deliver with selective supervisor

• Have a strong track record of managing interfaces with a variety of stakeholders and driving results

• Strength in creating and leveraging relationships, both internally and externally

• Balancing priorities and coping with a demanding workload, often against tight deadlines,

• Applying strategic thinking abilities to decipher complex business issues and distilling key messages

• Team player, acting with humility and discretion

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Hands on experience in finance, valuations, and deal structuring

• Experience of working / exposure to a commercial project
