Join our newly formed Cloud Native Engineering team as a Lead Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) and help shape the future of software and data modelling at Shell.

As an SRE you will join a team of reliability engineers who partner with development teams throughout the organization with the goal of improving products, features, and flow reliability.

An SRE spends just as much of their time working on systems as they do writing code. You’ll be tasked with all manner of work from building operational tooling, automating operational workflows, performing architecture and design reviews, investigating system failures and complex outages, improving our monitoring infrastructure, defining service level objectives and agreements for products and flows, and much more.

Our Tech stack: Azure & AWS, Packer, Terraform, Vault, Jenkins, Docker, EKS (Kubernetes), Prometheus, Grafana, EFK, Pager Duty, and more! Where You Fit: The Enterprise Technology and Project (ET&P) organization is a part of the IT Services and Operations (ITSO) organization. ET&P delivers the Enterprise Technology foundations for all of Shell. The organization is split into 4 Enterprise Service Portfolios planning and defining solutions for: End User Productivity, Digital Platforms, Identity & Access Management and Security, and Connectivity. These teams are the Service Owners for Enterprise Technology, completing the strategy, road mapping and planning for these portfolios, working in conjunction their Service Management counterparts in ETSOM and their Delivery counterparts in ET&P. Alongside the portfolio teams, there are 4 Delivery teams that work hand in hand with the portfolio teams and their relevant business SOM teams to deliver their solutions. These 4 teams are focused on project delivery in the following areas: Enterprise, Downstream, Upstream / IG/ NE/ PT, and Global Functions. ET&P has a variety of jobs from Portfolio Management, Delivery Lead, Programme Manager, Project Manager, and Technical Consultants.

These roles in ET&P offer the unique opportunity to select, design, build, deploy, and own global enterprise scale services essential to all of Shell.

The Cloud Native Engineering Practice is an organization of engineers who work with our production services throughout their entire life cycle, from design and architecture, through implementation, deployment, and sustaining operation. SRE’s delivers important system properties: reliability, performance, efficiency, and scalability, for the products and platforms that our customers use every day.

SREs work in high-performance squads with expertise on large scale system reliability and in-depth understanding of critical business components architecture, as well as dedicated engineering teams building comprehensive tools, platform and infrastructure.

We need your skills and passion to help make it happen! The Role: On a Normal Day, you will;

• Lead and inspire a team of SREs/DevOps Engineers to deliver services for new age digital platform
• Collaborate & Support product owner by providing technical definitions for product optimization and maturity
• Technical mentorship combined with hands-on delivery to refine & drive product backlogs
• Work with development partners to shape the architecture, design, and implementations of new and existing systems to enhance their reliability, performance, efficiency, and scalability
• Ensure all key services are measured, monitored and raising alerts when needed
• Automation of deployment and configuration processes
• Develop reliability tools and frameworks for use by all engineers
• Lead incident response and triaging as part of service operations and support
• Drive efficiencies in systems and processes: capacity planning, configuration management, performance tuning, monitoring and root cause analysis

Skills include;

• Expertise or deep working knowledge in Cloud networking and Next Gen security services
• Product and working knowledge with Palo Alto products (Next gen firewalls, Panorama, Global Protect VPN) and with Hashicorp products (Vault, Terraform etc.)
• Expertise with coding infrastructure, automation and orchestration
• Working knowledge of Kubernetes, Terraform, Prometheus, Elastic, Jenkins (or other similar toolset)
• Well versed in multiple cloud flavours (AWS and Azure)
• Good programming skills in one of Java, JavaScript, Python or Go, and an ability to pick up new ones.
• A good understanding of large-scale distributed systems in practice, including multi-tier architectures, application security, monitoring and storage systems.
• Good understanding of the DevOps and SAFe/Scrum ways of working
