Roles and Responsibilities

About the role

This is a key role as a member of a formative mobility team focussed on the development of FC& Electric Vehicle technology and the associated design and integration of electrical systems required to deliver the technology to market

Electrical systems design for automotive applications is increasingly becoming more complex with the introduction of new systems including HV/LV E-systems, ADAS, V2X and infotainment. With it wiring harnesses, cable systems and electrical components continue to increase in quantity and complexity.

The candidate will demonstrate the mindset and experience to meet and resolve the challenges of increasing system complexity, while delivering high quality in reduced timescales and incorporating best in class process driven methods

Job Accountabilities (duties and responsibilities).

Team and system lead role ensuring the interface with cross-functional teams including Fuel cell, battery, powertrain, power electronics teams etc to ensure overall feature design and development, maturation and decision-making of the Low and High Voltage Energy Distribution System (HV/LV EDS)

Decomposition of the system requirements using an appropriate tool (stimulus, Doors, Polarion) so a model based approach can be adopted

Understanding all external interfaces and ensuring the functional architecture correctly captures the need

Development of interface diagrams and schematics for LV/HV systems

Creation of an integrated 3D electrical development environment which enables the physical design of wire harnesses, cabling and bus bars in the context of the Digital Mock-Up.

Synchronize the electrical schematic to the 3D design to improve electrical systems quality and consistency.

Responsibility for the electrical system Design development, release and validation lifecycle

Skills Required (Knowledge and Skills)

Team leadership competencies including excellent communication, personal, and governance skills.

Problem and conflict resolution utilising both experience and process driven methods

Analytical, and decision-making skills are vital to the position. Able to apply RCA and decision making tools such as 8D, ishikawa, pugh matrix

A self-starter, able to make evidence-based decisions, and display a strong “can-do” attitude to match the challenges with equal enthusiasm.

Key Attributes (Experience and Qualifications)

Necessary:
Experience gained within an automotive OEM or premium tier 1

Technical leadership of electric vehicle LV/HV EDS architectures and delivering end product designs for rft manufacture

Understanding of whole vehicle engineering and platform design

Hands-on Experience in Requirement Analysis and management tools to Generate and decompose system and subsystem requirements

Working knowledge of the industry standard design tools

Knowledge of automotive practices for project delivery and engineering excellence
