The Role: Sr Specialist, Quantitative Analysis

The Location: Gurgaon
The Team: The Commercial Intelligence team sits within the Commercial Strategy group and is responsible for building complex and insightful business intelligence tools. We go beyond reporting and visualization. We create data driven analytics that enables S&P Global Commodity Insights to inform and develop insightful strategies to deliver growth and customer engagement.
The Impact: The Sr Specialist, Quantitative Analysis is a critical role that sits in the center of the team and is responsible for defining and executing our data management and modelling processes. You will work across a fast array of commercial datasets, typically work on numerous projects at any one-time, and iterate with many stakeholders (within the team and more broadly). The role leverages technology and best practice to build and continually optimize our data management strategy. Robust data management sits at the forefront of what we do, and this role ultimately ensures that the BI tools we build are both efficient and effective in supporting the commercial strategy for Commodity Insights.

Responsibilities:
Act as an expert and key resource for ETL to support ongoing development and advancements to our BI reports, including complicated joins, and conditional columns, and improving the overall operational efficiency of the team using cloud capabilities wherever possible.
Define data requirements with stakeholders and develop data models using cloud capabilities and data virtualization
Project manage the implementation of the core data management, processing, and modeling
Develop and maintain ongoing data strategy for the team, based on new technologies and best practice methods
Define and implement a new predictive analytics strategy to improve the value of data, deriving predictions for key commercial workflows such as pipeline management and predicting cancellations, defined by end-user workflows and needs.
What We’re Looking For:
A degree in statistics, computer science, mathematics, economics, or a similarly quantitative discipline. Additional education is preferred
5 or more years of work experience, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant data modeling and business intelligence (BI) experience
Superior data management skills and application experience, including experience/knowledge of natural language processing (Python is preferable), data virtualization and ETL tool (Denodo is preferable), and database applications (Snowflake/AWS is preferable)
Expert knowledge of Denodo (advanced with experience in writing advanced queries including joins, modeling, VCS control, query optimization, scheduler)
Strong experience in developing reports and dashboards using Power Pivot, Power Query, and DAX
Understanding of core commercial systems (e.g., SAP, Salesforce) and B2B subscription-based business model is preferable
Demonstrated creative problem-solving, proactive nature, and critical reasoning abilities
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal in English)
Enjoys working in an agile team environment, juggling multiple projects and interfacing with different colleagues/teams, whilst creating innovative solutions
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure to achieve set deadlines and with high attention to detail
Availability for occasional work outside normal business hours
