The Role: Carbon Market Analyst
Carbon market analyst. A key focus of the role involves supporting comprehensive and regular analysis of key regional, national and sectoral carbon markets (both existing and prospective) = including development of outlooks and forecasts. Special attention will be paid to Asian government and regional policies and compliance markets. Relevant markets include the established (and regularly revised) national carbon markets in Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, China – as well as developing/nascent markets in India, Japan, Indonesia, etc.
The analyst is part of an established team across the globe, tasked with and developing and maintaining of a suite of analytical offerings (fundamental supply/demand balances, policy and market analysis, price outlooks and forecasts) around environmental commodities markets. This is as part of broader effort to drive client insights around the implementation and likely implications of carbon markets – part of the broader energy transition to achieve needed emissions reductions and sustainable energy sectors.
Critical to success will be ability to understand market dynamics and relevant clean energy technology and nature based solutions, compile and interpret data, understand complex policy developments (executive, legislative and judicial).

Such understanding helps support colleagues across S&P Global Commodity Insights working in other commodities, seeking to understand how the Energy Transition is impacting their own markets.

The Team / The Business: You will work with a highly motivated and innovative team of analysts who share the common goals of providing client with the tools to successfully plan for and engage with existing and emerging carbon markets and carbon pricing constructs. You will work with a global team in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment. The Climate and Energy Transformation team offers a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment, as part of the Gas Power and Climate Solutions Division at S&P Global Commodity Insights.
The environmental markets analysis team will work to understand and distill the state of underlying fundamentals as well as key policies being proposed and implemented. These insights will then be utilized to model the market – to provide underlying rigour to market outlooks and forecasts. The analyst will also work with commercial and market engagement teams to ensure maximum value delivery to stakeholders. The team delivers analysis and insights to market participants though several mediums including periodic and special reports, data visualization platforms, conferences and events, and other customer engagement forums.
