Quality Assurance Manager
Department Overview:
Quality Assurance Center of Excellence (QA CoE) is the provider of testing services across the organization. QA CoE is responsible for providing appropriate testing solutions and quality control for projects and or release for the organization. The goal of the QA CoE is to create a best in class testing team, focused on leveraging industry best practices and processes for Quality Assurance and Quality Control.
Overall Accountabilities:
This role is responsible for effectively leading and managing the growth of Quality Assurance Centre of Excellence (QA CoE) along with the team of QA professionals in providing a broad range of test services and solutions, ensuring established standards are met and planned objectives are achieved. This role also requires the developing and executing a Quality assurance vision for the SS&C organization that incorporates quality assurance standards, testing approaches, and automation strategies and frameworks. The Manager of Quality Assurance reports to Senior Manager or Above.
Job Description:
Manage / oversee test team in the delivery of Test planning, test preparation and test execution activities in adherence to standards for testing
Accountable for all phases of testing for a project or release including ( but not limited to) System integration testing, Business / User acceptance testing (BAT/UAT), performance testing, and Automation testing
Demonstrate ability to plan and perform all aspects of Quality Assurance activities to successful completion for complex initiatives.
Oversee creation of test strategies, plans and project documentation using Risk analysis methodologies and tools, aligning with development approach / methodology selected for the project.
Manage creation, review and signoff of testing documentation (e.g. test strategies, test plan, test schedules, test estimation, test cases, dashboard, defect logs and test closure report) and ensure all test artifacts adhere to SS&C QA standards and audit requirements
Understand and communicate testing impact of scope changes / project change request to the project management team both from the timeline / cost and risk perspective
Participate in the test case creation and the test cases execution when required to ensure test team meets project timelines and manage and support the team in creating reusable test assets for both manual and automation test scripts
Oversee the defect / status calls to ensure that defects are documented and tracked and defect fixes are tested in timely manner and report the status of test planning, test execution and defects via daily dashboard reporting to the project team using standard test quality metrics
Develop and Manage operational processes that are consistent across the Channels, ensure QA processes are incorporated into the overall technology practice and standards
Manage vendor partner relationships to ensure proper utilization of the testing resources
Accountable for team adherence to SS&C QA processes, ensuring timely notification of issues / problems reviews escalated risks and issues, work with stakeholders to develop contingency plans, resolve risks and escalate further if necessary
Implement SS&C QA processes and ensure adherence across channels and portfolios
Provide testing estimates and estimate revisions for cost and resources. Track actuals against estimates and provide forecasts to appropriate stakeholders.
Accountable for management of the overall team providing both leadership and technical guidance, set targets and objectives for the team and deliver results
Grow team expertise, asses team skills and capabilities and continually look for ways to provide and enhance the value delivered
Foster an environment / culture that encourages productivity, innovation, process improvement, team work and high level of professionalism
Coordinate necessary resources to ensure completion by deadlines
Provide coaching, development, succession, recruitment, resource management and overall team leadership for team members and provide regular inputs into team members assessment of performance and development plans.
Prioritize and mange own workload in order to deliver quality results and meet timelines
Support a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation and team work and ensures timely communication of issues / point of interest
Identify and recommend opportunities to enhance productivity, effectiveness and operational efficiency of the business unit and or team
Establish effective relationships across multiple business and technology partners, project managers
Participate in knowledge transfer within team and business unit
Provide insight, information and recommendations on industry trends and significant issues
Manage and prioritize test teams for multiple releases and projects
Sets Strategy and direction at an operational level, works autonomously in the management of the channel and collaborates with another business partners to establish and execute on common goals
Orchestrates the development of resolutions / plans and strategies
Provides strong knowledge of QA methodologies, best practice and processes while contributing to the direction for testing methods and tools selection
Coordinates and prioritize multiple testing initiatives and champions the optimization of test activities across the projects
Manages the development and implementation of new testing strategies and directives as part of the continuous Improvement
Sound knowledge of external industry trends in relation to competency
Knowledge of principles, practices and IT processes appropriate to the development and stewardship of quality delivery
Generally reports to Senior Manager or above
Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities:
Lead a team of Test Manager / Leads and Test Analysts (onshore and or offshore)
Accountable for all phases of testing.
Manage onshore and offshore test teams in the delivery of the Test planning, Test preparation, Test Execution scheduling, Test execution activities in adherence to the SS&C standards
Overall governance of QA CoE best practices
Responsible for quality of released products
Responsible for identification and implementation of QA process improvements
Responsible for measurement and improvement of client satisfaction, building of action plans to address gaps
Collaboration and communication with SS&C teams on initiatives, resolution of issues and risk mitigation strategies
Responsible for overall resource management for channels
Responsible for hiring, onboarding and retaining top performers
Responsible for monitoring associate and team performance, providing continuous feedback, creation and delivering of associate mid-year and year-end performance agreements
Critical Requirements:
7+ years working in the financial industry
3+ years of people leadership experience
Working knowledge of QA methodologies
Experience working with 3rd party vendors
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong negotiation and project management skills
Strong organization and time management skills
