The Role Responsibilities
Job Role
The job holder will be based in Bangalore and focussing on providing support for the Group Climate Risk team.
The role holder will work in close alignment with a dedicated onshore manager that covers content driven topics and senior stakeholder management.
Strategy
Support the formulation of Climate Risk Management Framework, particularly focused on the integration of climate risk into the existing risk systems and / or processes around Corporate, Commercial and Institutional Banking (CCIB) and Consumer, Private and Business Banking (CPBB) credit risk management and stress testing / scenario analysis.
Support the Group’s baselining and target setting initiatives, in line with its aspiration to achieve Net Zero by 2050 in alignment with the Paris Agreement.
Focus on execution while being accountable and innovative in finding ways to be part of the solution even when identifying problems.
Support continuous training initiatives for both the 1st line and 2nd line to ensure climate risk embedding into BAU credit risk management.
Work closely with Group COO and Credit Policy teams to ensure design, scoping and policy to ensure embedding of climate risk into BAU credit risk management.
Business
While being focused on climate risk assessment, keep a ‘think client’ hat in any risk developments; consider how the risk assessments contribute to helping the clients build a more resilient business model.
Broad awareness and understanding of the bank’s business model and risk profile.
Strong understanding of the bank’s climate risk stress testing and scenario analysis approach, and wider stress testing and scenario analysis capabilities and existing processes.
Processes
Contribute to Group-wide RCSA reviews with respect to climate risk, particularly for CCIB credit risk.
Evaluate relevant existing controls and contribute to designing new controls as required.
Risk Management
Second-line review and challenge of credit BCAs for adequacy and accuracy of the first-line’s assessment of climate risk for top clients as assigned (particularly for Europe and Americas region).
Oversee Climate Risk assessment and monitoring for CPBB portfolios. Drive continuous expansion and enhancement of risk assessment approaches for Medium enterprises clients.
Undertake analysis of clients subjected to Climate Risk and provide insights to enable enhanced portfolio management.
Provide inputs to the Group’s strategic risk appetite metric calculation for climate risk.
Work closely with data strategy, third party vendors on both transition and physical risk modelling including data preparation and review requests.
Governance
Contribute to overall governance mechanisms (including committee oversight and individual approval authorities) for climate risk management.

Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

Our Ideal Candidate
Prior engagement in climate-related workstreams and other risk areas strongly desired.
Prior engagement with Risk Framework Owners / Policy Owners and business owners preferred.
Prior hands on experience with stress testing preferred, particularly climate risk stress testing.
Role Specific Technical Competencies
Familiarity with climate risk management (tools and methodologies)
Data preparation and review skills
Ownership and accountability for deliverables / action oriented
Climate risk stress testing and wider Enterprise wide stress testing processes
