JOB OVERVIEW

As a Data Business Analyst your primary role, is to act as a vital link between the business teams and the Data and Analytics team. In this capacity, you are entrusted with several key responsibilities, including requirement gathering, performing technical assessments, developing data model designs, and ensuring the quality and integrity of data. This pivotal function plays a critical role in the development of data models. By executing this role, you actively contribute to advancing a culture within Study Group that places a strong emphasis on data-driven decision-making.

ABOUT THE ROLE

• Interpret and translate user requests and requirements, and – where appropriate – provide suggestions for improved methods to obtain and present the required information.

• Facilitate meetings and/or workshops and deliver presentations to capture requirements and generate feedback.

• Create wireframes, mock-ups, and proofs of concept as part of the requirements process to validate needs and feasibility.

• Develop clear, robust, and accurate data-specific user stories and requirements. This may involve challenging perceptions and embedded thinking, to ensure data requirements are accurately captured, achieve outcomes and support innovation.

• Create data mapping artefacts, including the definition of transformations required, to inform the data design and build process.

• Support Data Governance initiatives as required. Support UAT processes where required

• Assist data-related projects and the production of data products, whilst supporting initiatives for data integrity and normalisation.

• Ensure work is delivered in line with GDPR and the Data Protection Act, and able to share the implications for the work – advising stakeholders as appropriate.

• Play a role in encouraging better data literacy within Study Group and help foster a data culture across the organisation. This includes advocating for better use and management of data at Study Group.

  ABOUT YOU

• Undergraduate degree from a good university or above, or equivalent experience.

• At least 5 years’ experience working as a Business Analyst from requirement to deployment in projects

• Experience working effectively with stakeholders including IT infrastructure and other data and analytics specialists.

• Experience of projects where the focus has been on data: e.g. sourcing appropriate data to meet business requirements, transformation of large data sets, data migrations.

• Experience of Agile methodologies. 

• Experience working with the business to understand requirements and capturing these as User Stories with appropriate Acceptance Criteria.

• Good understanding of Data Lakes, Management Information (MI) reporting and data visualisation/presentation.
