Summary:
Design, implement, and maintain Petco’s SQL databases

Duties & Responsibilities:
Ensures all databases are available, performing well, and protected.Participates in cross-functional projects and implements the appropriate database solutionResponds to issues and incidents and addresses them in a timely mannerDetermines the root cause of incidents and implements solutions to prevent recurrenceEnsures that database capacity is within limits across the database landscape and responds proactively when thresholds are hitEnsures that all in-scope SOX databases are fully compliantEnsures that database monitoring is comprehensive and appropriate to meet SLA’sDevelops and maintains technical and procedural documentation for the database landscapeWillingness to be part of an on-call rotation and support Major Incident resolution

Minimum qualifications:
BS Degree in Computer Science or similar2-5 years of experience directly related to SQLServer Database ManagementAbility to effectively speak to managementMust be knowledgeable in the area of Database Best PracticesWorking knowledge in Windows as it related to the databasesAbility to effectively troubleshoot and resolve issuesFamiliar with agile development processes and able to use agile practices to meet org objectivesFamiliar with “Database as a Service” concepts and the automation required to implementFamiliar with generating automated reports using REST API from various management modulesProven ability to automate and script administration tasks via Shell, PowerShell, or PythonAble to express & defend complex written & verbal thoughts effectively and concisely to a wide audience rangeSelf-driven and able to work in a high-paced environment with frequently changing prioritiesITIL certification is a plus
