About this role :
The Personalised offers team is part of Target’s Guest Data Sciences organization. Our team develops cutting-edge solutions that power exceptional guest experiences on Target.com and the Target App.
As a Director of Data Sciences at Target, you will be the technical leader of a team of data scientists and engineers that will design, develop, deploy, and maintain models and algorithms, leveraging Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Reinforcement Learning. You’ll work closely with Marketing, Loyalty, and Technology business partners to continuously learn more about our business needs, and to design relevant, highly performant solutions. You’ll also work with engineers and data scientists on peer teams along with your own to build and productionize offer solutions for our business needs.
The Director of Data Sciences will work with Product, Tech, and business partners to define product roadmaps that fit in our ecosystem and solve retail challenges at scale. You will build consensus and communicate with senior level leadership. You will drive the creation of new standards and best practices in both applied science and ML engineering and author various project related documents, vision statements, and roadmaps.
You will develop a world-class team and provide development, coaching, support, and feedback to team members. You’ll also create an atmosphere of teamwork, collaboration, and inclusion while communicating day-to-day decisions, priorities, and relevant project information. You’ll also manage resource allocation as well as define and communicate overall vision and goals for the team.
Requirements:
MS/PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Physics, or a related major (or equivalent industry experience)
Demonstrated experience in strategic and cross-functional leadership, planning, and execution
7+ years of experience in modeling and algorithms
3+ years managing, leading and developing technical teams
Experience deploying deep learning and machine learning models with large-scale business impact in a commercial setting
Strong proficiency in Python
Able to produce documents/narrative suggesting actionable insights
Excellent communication skills; able to clearly tell data driven stories through appropriate visualizations, graphs, and narratives
Strong team player with ability to collaborate effectively across geographies/time zones
Bonus Points :
Experience in the retail industry or similar consumer-focused domain
Proven track record of delivering impactful data-driven solutions that drive business outcomes
Hands-on and theoretical experience with Reinforcement Learning
Familiarity with best practices in MLOps, CI/CD, and code test coverage
