Job Description – Telecommunications/Commtech Regulatory Specialist

International telecommunications/commtech company seeks regulatory specialist to join its Legal Regulatory Department to work on international and domestic telecommunications/commtech regulatory matters in multiple countries. The company provides subsea cable capacity, international and domestic voice services, MPLS, Internet transit, VoIP, IoT, Mobility, CPaaS, CaaS, managed security, cloud, and/or other cutting-edge commtech services.

Key Responsibilities

• Telecommunications regulatory licensing and ongoing regulatory compliance
• Assisting and supporting senior regulatory counsels in advising commercial counsels, business functions and product managers on regulatory matters, providing input/recommendation in regulatory sections of commercial/partnership transactions (including RFPs), and in the review and launch of new products and services
• Preparing regulatory reports (internal and external)
• Interacting and negotiating with government officials, external counsels, customers, and suppliers, under guidance of senior regulatory counsels.

Skills and Qualifications

• Law degree (LL.B. or BA/BBA/BSc LL.B. or equivalent, full time) from a recognized law school
• 5+ years relevant experience with a telecommunications/commtech company or in TMT at a major law firm
• Knowledge of general telecommunications regulatory and corporate law
• Basic understanding of trending emerging technologies/new products rollout, such as IoT, CPaaS, CaaS, and cloud-based services
• Excellent written and oral communications skills
• Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple matters/projects
• Appetite to collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders across a range of international jurisdictions and time-zones
• Engineering background a plus
• Familiarity with principles of accounting a plus
• Telecommunications/Commtech contracting experience a plus
