Boeing India Engineering organization is currently looking for Lead Software Engineer to join their team in Bengaluru, KA. As a Software Engineer, you will be part of the Boeing India Engineering Software team, which develops software applications and products that create direct value to its customers. We provide re-vamped work environments focused on delivering data-driven solutions at a rapidly increased pace over traditional development. We are seeking a seasoned Senior software engineer with over 12+ years of experience in the augmented reality and virtual reality domain, preferably within the aviation industry. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of AR/VR technologies, strong leadership skills to guide a multidisciplinary team, and hands-on expertise in programming languages to support and contribute to the coding requirements as necessary

Position Responsibilities:

• Spearhead the vision, strategy, and roadmap for AR/VR aviation projects, aligning them with business objectives and customer needs.

• Work closely with cross-functional teams (developers, designers, engineers) to steer the product lifecycle.

• Define and prioritize product features based on market research, user feedback, and industry trends.

• Act as an AR/VR subject matter expert, offering mentorship and guidance while translating technical requirements into actionable tasks.

• Ensure timely delivery of high-quality AR/VR products, managing risks and expectations across the development cycle.

• Contribute to the Boeing India Engineering team, developing, maintaining, and enhancing aviation software products.

• Define system requirements, actively participating in software development and collaborating with diverse teams across locations.

• Drive Epic/Feature/Story creation and solution design within an Agile setting, fostering effective communication and solution architecture.

• Create and maintain software design/architecture documentation, actively reducing technical debt.

• Collaborate with international teams, promoting knowledge sharing and competency development.

• Recommend system enhancements, research new requirements, and promote capabilities improvement.

• Occasional domestic and international travel may be required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

• A Bachelor’s degree or higher is required as a BASIC QUALIFICATION

• Professional Experience : 12+ years in AR/VR development

• Technical Proficiency : Strong command of AR/VR programming languages (C#, C++, Unity, Unreal Engine) and web-based technologies (HTML5, CSS, JavaScript). Knowledge of VR platforms such as Oculus, HTC Vive, or PlayStation VR.

• Domain Knowledge : Extensive understanding of AR/VR hardware, software frameworks, and computer graphics principles.

• Leadership Skills : Proven track record in leading successful AR/VR projects, coupled with excellent communication and team management abilities.

• Agile Experience : Proficiency in agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and product management tools (JIRA, Trello, etc.).

• System Engineering Experience : Hands-on involvement in software development and system engineering.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

• Previous experience with Java full stack development.

• Familiarity with aviation-related systems, regulations, or applications.

• Certifications or specialized training in AR/VR technologies

• 12+ years of experience years of professional experience in AR/VR development, with a strong preference for experience in the aviation industry

• Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in AR/VR development, such as C#, C++, Unity, Unreal Engine, and familiarity with web-based technologies (HTML5, CSS, JavaScript).

• Extensive knowledge of AR/VR hardware, software frameworks, and platforms.

• Solid understanding of computer graphics, 3D math, and physics principles.

• Experience with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and product management tools (JIRA, Trello, etc.)

• Proven track record of leading successful AR/VR projects from conception to delivery.

• DevOps, automation, scripting, CI/CD (Azure CI/CD, C#, PowerShell).

• Experience in airplane simulation, CSF, Realtime, Window32/64, and MS.

• Proficiency in Python, willingness to learn Rust, Golang, WASM.

• Familiarity with Game SDK/Framework, Virtual Server, and SimConnect/MSFS 2020/FSX/P3D/XPLANE.

• Previous experience in Flight Plan/Optimization, Aircraft Fuel planning, Lateral and Vertical flight planning, and Flight Management System (FMS) domain knowledge.

Typical Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, aerospace or other closely related field and 12+ or more years’ related work experience
