The Coca-Cola Company Looking For Manager – Public Policy and Government Relations at Gurugram, Haryana, Full Time

Location – Gurgaon

Position Overview

The prospective candidate will be responsible for developing and executing a high impact government relations strategy in support of the company’s business in India and South-West Asia, driving engagement across key policy makers, regulators and thought leaders in the market. He/she will be responsible for creating awareness of the organization’s efforts to key government stakeholders at centre, state, local levels, as well as tactical support to the company’s senior leadership team to achieve set goals. The role will require analysis of policies and regulations both at the Center and the State. S/he will report to the Sr. Director, Government Affairs, based in Gurugram, India and work very closely with the VP, PACS in defining and shaping the company’s position of key policy and regulatory matters with the Government authorities and regulators.

This position must have a significant and positive ability to engage the Government to enable future growth in India while reaffirming a positive image and reputation for Coca-Cola in India. S/he will support relationship management with regulators, academics and other policy influencers. The incumbent will also support on crisis management and issues related to compliance, operations and expansion. Through a deep understanding of the external environment within which the business operates, support senior management on the context for business decision making and the impacts of potential decisions.

Function Related Activities/Key Responsibilities

• Support and steer Coca-Cola’s engagement with policymakers, regulators and other key stakeholders across INSWA to defend and promote the company’s interests.
• Support building relationships that enable Coca-Cola to effectively engage with nodal ministries and related stakeholders; (Finance, Legal Metrology department, Consumer Affairs, Food Processing, Environment, Commerce etc.) and elected officials in the Parliament.
• Monitor and analyse policy developments across INSWA related to food and beverages, environment, fiscal policy and trade that may impact the company’s business.
• Develop policy positions on key issues and make them relevant and compelling to the stakeholders by conducting research, preparing communication materials, and curating thought leadership platforms.
• Ensure strong representation by Coca-Cola in the key national trade associations and US focused industry groups and facilitate the participation of key business leaders at the company on relevant platforms.
• Drive a strong focus on business-enabling policy matters and engage the Government on potential areas of partnership and collaboration.
• Manage external agencies/ associations that support Coca-Cola in Government Affairs.

Education Requirements

MBA / Degree in Law/ Public Policy

Related Work Experience

• 5-7 years of experience in public policy, Legal Affairs, corporate affairs, and government relations preferably in a corporate position.

Functional Skills

• Deep understanding of Indian politics, public policy formulation, GST/taxes/regulations/incentives etc.
• Regulatory and Legal understanding of ESG/Manufacturing and Operational issues.
• Keen interest in sustainability and circular economy initiatives.
• Ability to relate public policy projects to core business objectives.
