The DevOps Specialist Support Engineer will contribute to the team’s successful releases by providing support to Engineering team as well as by deploying DDN existing and new hardware and software platforms. This role has a broad set of responsibilities that allow for collaboration across engineering, QA, Support and related teams. The DevOps Support Engineer will be a vital member of DDN engineering teams by managing a large number of systems distributed around the world, perform benchmarks on new and existing platform and perform validation of different hardware components of all DDN software storage appliances. :
Responsibilities:

• Administer internal clusters and parallel file systems including, but not limited to: installation of

software, configuration and remote administration of systems

• Resolve any reported system issues rapidly and report on actions taken
• Keep management informed of plans, progress, and issues regarding assigned work
• Write and maintain scripts to streamline and optimize maintenance tasks
• Identify and recommend improvements to make work efforts more efficient and/or more effective
• Work closely with local hands-on staff on administration tasks
• Provide input and recommendations on network and system architecture, layout, and

maintenance (including monitoring, upgrades, and decommissioning)

• Identify and implement tools that support deployment, configuration, administration, maintenance,

and monitoring of the systems – either by building/deploying/maintaining the tool or by
installing/configuring/maintaining a pre-existing 3rd party software tool

• Build and install drivers and file systems such as GPFS or Lustre
• Execute I/O benchmarking in support of profiling customer applications
• Analyzing the results and providing a report on the new platform deployment
• Create ISO images for releases and update ISO images for latest OS release
• Manage and validate critical OS patches and perform security & vulnerability updatesSkills and

Experience

• Strong knowledge of system architecture and Linux fundamentals is a must for this role
• Minimum 3 years of experience in platforms engineering or hardware platform support
• Expertise in Linux System Administration and Scripting (shell) is a must for this role
• Understanding of server installation and management and knowledge of High Performance

Computing is required to perform day-to-day activities for this role

• Very good oral and written communication skills
• Experiences with Git, Gerrit and Jenkins and Agile software development tools and process are a

plus.
