PROJECT AIM AND OBJECTIVE:

Formation and Promotion of 10,000 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) as Cluster-based business Organization (CBBO) for undertaking value-chain interventions in selected districts of Gujarat is to provide a holistic and broad-based supportive ecosystem to form new FPOs. To enhance productivity and higher returns and become sustainable through collective actions to provide handholding and support to new FPOs in all aspects of management of FPO, inputs, production, processing and value addition, market linkages, credit linkages and use of technology, etc.

Roles And Responsibilities

• Conduct diagnostic study including a baseline survey
• Registration of FPOs and Training of BODs on roles, responsibilities, management and also capital/ equity mobilization
• Involve in training and capacity buildings of FPOs/farmer groupsTraining needs identification, develop training modules, conduct basic training workshops and exposure visits
• Assist in community/farmers mobilization – baseline survey, cluster finalization, value chain study, formation of groups and FPO and assist in their periodic meetings. They may seek the assistance of Local Bodies, wherever feasible in identification of proper produce cluster and mobilization of members
• Assist Implementing Agency (GAICL) in cluster identification
• Preparation and execution of Business Plans for the long-term sustainability of FPO- Business plan preparation (for different incubation services), acquiring land, mobilizing equity capital and implementation of Business Plan
• Assisting in input management, adoption of proper and good agricultural practices through knowledge sharing, aggregation of produce, quality management, assaying, processing, packaging, supply chain development and marketing
• Market linkages with buyers/processors/exporters, trading, export etc as may be necessary to ensure the long-term sustainability of FPOs
• Incubation/handholding services for sustainability: Provide support and monitoring in terms of incubation activities; capacity building of BODs and FPO management for sustainability
• Facilitate the establishment of necessary common pool production, marketing and processing infrastructure facility by the FPO, as may be necessary, to develop the business for long-term viability
• Liaison with an advisory body consisting of various stakeholders including state government representatives, NGOs, RIs, KVKs or any other support institutions on active guidance over project implementation
• 100 PERCENT of agri-business plan executed and produce value chain developed

Desired Profile:

• Experience in Agri business OR agri marketing OR Value addition development
• Experience in post-harvest management
• Knowledge & skills on designing communication materials, Sales & Marketing, Management, Commodity market / Agricultural trading, Documentation, and Computer skills
• Working with FPO’s or Large farmer groups
• Experience on working on the mentioned responsibilities
• Experience in the mobilization of farmers
• Field demonstrations
• Arranging village-level meetings

Essential Skills:

• Basic MS office skills, Good networking skills & Work Reporting skills
• Excellent presentation and communication skills and the ability to write clear and concise issue briefs and reports in English and Gujarati/ Local languages
• Work in a team with the ability to interact with an interdisciplinary, multicultural support environment and promote team spirit and a culture
• Ability to work independently also to achieve performance objectives and deliverables
