We are looking to hire for R & D Associate – Consumer Technical Insights for our Hair care Category based in Mumbai.

CONSUMER TECHNICAL INSIGHTS(CTI)
CTI R & D Associate role is based at our Mumbai site in India and is within R&D in the Hair category.
Science and technology play a key part in the R&D strategy to deliver superior product experiences with enduring impact and quality. Consumer technical insights is a strategic Capability for Unilever R&D. The role of Consumer & Technical Insight (CTI) is to act as the link between consumers and the products they use, providing insight and guidance to R&D to ensure the category delivers outstanding products and claims.
JOB DESCRIPTION: MAIN JOB PURPOSE
The key job role is to work within R&D to help deliver the Hair category ambition in CTI by providing insights and guidance to drive product innovation. This will involve working closely with the CTI Manager. The role reports to Hair CTI Manager.
The role involves working on regional & global brands, across several projects within multidisciplinary teams to generate consumer insights and translate them into technical briefs to guide development of superior products and consumer relevant product claims. You will have the opportunity to work across many areas of the consumer technical insights agenda (strategic understanding, product drivers, competitor benchmarking etc) using traditional approaches as well as lean/agile/digital approaches. This role offers many opportunities to make a direct impact on the business.
Support the CTI Manager to plan & deliver on management of Hair CTI consumer insights workstream, for all key projects and activities, to ensure smooth implementation of integrated research plans for innovation/renovation projects.
This role will give you the opportunity to work closely with the broader Hair CTI regional & Global teams, agency partners as well as our partners: R&D, CMI and Marketing.
You are expected to have a proven background and/or a strong interest in consumer insights. You are expected to be passionate about consumers, and are expected to use multiple information sources to tell a succinct story and give a point of view, keen to be a true partner to R&D.
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Help in set-up and coordination of consumer research studies, to support the Innovation Portfolio and Strategic Understanding initiatives working along with CTI Manager.
Work with external consumer research agencies: Help manage and co-ordinate consumer studies – according to best practice guidelines. Be proficient in designing the brief, getting proposals from the agency, commissioning the study, monitoring progress, data analysis and interpretation and sharing of the results on time to support various Innovation/Renovation projects.
Responsible for overseeing the Hair salon/sensory work requirements/ Salon panel in accordance with the annual resources/budget allocated, managing salon studies.
Review and summarise current and past market, consumer, and sensory data to help identify opportunities for superior products and claims and providing the R&D teams with clear guidance on how to deliver these.
Help in the analysis of trends, comprehensive understanding of UL & Competitors products (sensorial and claims), new technology impact on consumers, and consumer/market/product insights to identify new opportunities for the business.
Facilitate and support creation of effective KBS/Demos that communicate the product benefits.
As a member of the CTI team, actively contribute to CTI capability development by keeping up to date with new developments, Encourage use of new techniques and processes for agile consumer research. Embrace new ways of doing research and adapt, Keep abreast of latest developments in consumer and sensory research techniques.
EDUCATION:
Science & Technology background (Masters in basic science or Human Sciences or Consumer Sciences / Market Research)-3-4 years’ experience in a consumer Research or sensory insight’s role, (in agency, FMCG, E-commerce).
Any prior experience or exposure in working on consumer research will be desirable. Any additional certification in Consumer Research / Consumer Behaviour will be preferred
Candidates with relevant experience in product testing will be preferred.
KEY SKILLS (FUNCTIONAL / GENERAL)
Functional Skills:
Working knowledge of consumer (qual and quant) & sensory research approaches testing methodologies etc
Qualitative consumer research approaches.
Quantitative consumer research approaches.
Sensory Research approaches (discrimination & descriptive)
Analytical ability to interpret data from CTI research, and make clear recommendations to project teams
Mining data from multiple sources, identifying key insights and translating these into new opportunities.
Basic understanding of statistical design and analyses. Analytical thinking with an ability to identify patterns within data.
Knowledge of category and brands would be an advantage. Experience in Hair category is desirable, but not essential.
Have a keen interest in consumer behaviour (their habits and attitudes, drivers), category, brands, and competitive environment to generate, develop and support insights for superior mixes
